Final fitting *flash* shrug or no shrug?

JoeyB44, 18 February, 2013 at 13:07 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi girls, I've been for my final fitting today and the dress looks stunning, so pleased with it and myself (I've lost 4 stone since the birth of my son last August) *big pat on back*!

The question is do I wear the lace top thingy or not? The picture of me wearing it isn't very good but hopefully you get the gist. It seems a shame to lose the detail on the bust BUT my bingo wings are not great so I think I might feel very self-conscious without it. I know it's my decision ultimately (and I think it'll be with the shrug) but I'd value your opinions and it gives me an excuse to flash!!

THANK YOU!

For a start, your bingo wings are definitely not an issue, you have a wonderful sculpture around your shoulders and collarbone, and they require showing off.

However, I think the lace shrug adds something to the dress, it is very gorgeous, and of course, for the evening you can remove it so in fact you have two dresses (sort of thing).

Go for it. It's there then, if you feel self concious about yourself at any time.

First of all, well done on your weight loss! Your dress looks lovely & it's a shame to cover the top with the shrug. It looks like it squashes your boobs a bit too!

I'm paranoid of my bingo wings too but felt loads more confident in my dress the second I put a veil on. It just stops you feeling quite so exposed. Are you having a veil? x

Wow! Gorgeous dress! And a huge well done you for losing weight. I know from personal experience how hard it can be ?

As for the dress, I would go without the shrug personally. Just my opinion, but I feel that style looks like you've put your cardi on back to front. I have horrible bingo wings, but am going strapless. If I was really that self conscious, and by the looks of the picture you've nothing to worry about anyway, I'd maybe look for a lacy bolero style shrug so as to keep the front of the dress free.

Lovely dress! I think it looks lovely with or without, but I agree with the others, your arms look great and I wouldn't worry. Personally I think the dress looks better without the shrug, it seems like the bottom of it doesn't fit naturally with the shape of the dress.

Wow!!! 4 stone??!! That's incredible!!! Well done you!!! Not just trying to butter you up but you look great and bingo wings? can't actually see them enough to pass comment lol! I think we are always our own harsher critics. Personally I would get rid of the coverup altogether... Sorry if it causes offence but I think it is unflattering to both you and your gorgeous dress. I think you and the frock are beautiful enough without- show it off girl!!! If you are really insistent on wearing something over the upper are, then a bolero would be much better - it will still allow your decolletage to be exposed (sexier by far ) but IMHO I'd steer away from lace altogether and just go for something as simple as possible, to compliment not overwhelmed the dress. Xx

Girl looking at your pics again, you'd be a fool to put those fab boobs and waistline in the shadow of that shrug!!! Get em shown off!! :0)

While the shrug is beautiful, it does hide your natural shape, and both, make your chest look bigger and sort of squished.

You've done a great job losing so much weight so I say lose the shrug and show off what you've achieved ?

You're all so kind, thank you. I think I will go without, I agree I lose the shape I've worked so hard to get. I wasn't going to wear a veil but I must say I am considering it now after the comment that it made you feel more dressed. Crikey 18 days to go and I'm so flippin' indecisive!! Thanks everyone.
