Finally!!!!

PinkButterfly, 21 October, 2013 at 15:45 Posted on Planning 0 6

After much deliberation I've decided on bridesmaid dresses....

i started out being a laid back bride and decide my bridesmaid would choose their own dresses. I didn't care if they were different just had to be same colour and fabric...

well it turns out my bridesmaid are just as laid back as me so after months of not really doing anything I had to take the reins and start looking for dresses myself.

after many hit and misses. (One would like... The other dislike) I've finally found dresses everyone agrees on, and I'll be ordering them at the end of this month.

admittedly two of the bridesmaid haven't seen the dress they picked something very similar and I then found another dress that compliments the dress the other two ladies will be wearing better. So glad it's sorted I found selecting bridesmaid dresses more stressful that getting my dress.

I'm now faced with finding dresses for my junior bridesmaids who will be 10 at the time of the wedding but currently wear clothes aged 15-16! I'm adamant they will no be wearing adult style dresses but all the children's clothing is way too small... Thankfully may be able to get them suitable dresses made.

Its good to have another thing ticked off the list. What colour/style have you gone for then? Maybe someone will have seen something in the shops that might work for the junior bridesmaid. I agree with you about not liking adult style dresses on children.

I would tread very carefully with this. If I were 10 years old and fancied myself very grown up for my age I would absolutely HATE you for making me wear something 'kiddie'. Why not sophisticated and tasteful that doesn't resemble the typical children's dresses? I don't see why it would be too grown up.

    Forgot to flash....

these are the bridesmaid dresses two are wearing this...

    Two will be wearing....

All in a shade of green. I found this dress for the junior bridesmaid and hope to get something similar made.

Will alter it by having the top part of dress made in an ivory colour and the rest in same shade of green as the older bridesmaid.

Because I feel children should be treated as such... Regardless of what they may like they are children and should be dressed appropriately. They are 10years old who act as such unfortunately they are very big for their age when it come to European sizing! Hence why they are wearing clothes aged 15-16 it's for sizing rather than style.

im not a big fan of dressing young girls as teenagers before their time.... They have more than enough time for that in their teenage years.

if you see my flash I feel that I've chosen something that is 'sophisticated and tasteful' without being too 'child like'

my point was I didn't want them in the same style as the adult bridesmaids.... Unfortunately it's very difficult to find an in between dresses are either very frilly and child like and too small for them, Or in my opinion too adult....

I know its the wrong shade of purple, but teen bridesmaids dresses ARE available, slightly more appropriate for kids while not being 'kiddy'

    Something like this:

    Lovely adult dresses!

Are you saying you will make this two-tone ivory top/green bottom for ten year olds? I have to agree with Venart here... The two-tone thing is very very little girly (in my cabbage). Could you not have it all the same green?

At aged ten, I was discussing why Penny had an abortion in Dirty Dancing...a two-tone flower girl dress would have made me look like ? ?

yes I want to break the colour up a little bit.... Feels like too much green in the bridal party!

i guess culturally we are all very different, I'd be very surprised if my nieces had watched dirty dancing!

i guess I know them and at the moment they behave how I would expected 9/10year olds to behave! They are very much into all things girly and originally wanted to wear this dress

But we won't be able to get it in their size plus even I felt this was too babyish for their age!

I guess everyone will deal with and dress children differently and it's a case of each to their own!
