Finding a fjord cruise?

Ellena, 30 August, 2009 at 15:12 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

We'd really like to try this next year and I finally got round to looking for one today. I've been on the internet for hours and I can't find anything-there are too many!
Here are our criteria, can anyone recommend a cruise, or somewhere to find one? Thanks Smiley smile
Must be from a UK port, no flying.
Taking in shetland, orkneys, faroes as well as norway
About 7 nights
On a ship that isn't 'posh', we don't want to be dressing up every night

    Hi

I'm not sure if that's do-able to be honest in 7 days. We did a cruise from Newcastle last year to the Faroe Islands then Iceland and onto Norway. It was an 11 night cruise and we were at sea for 5 days. It was with Thomson.

    Hope that helps a bit?

I work for a cruise line. I won't say which one as I don't want anything coming back to me and I don't want to be accused of advertising, but from experience I would say that you will probably struggle to find such an itinerary in a 7 day cruise.

Generally, a 7 night fjord cruise will only take in the fjords. If you want to include Scotland and Faroe Islands as well then you are probably looking at a minimum of 11 nights.

With regards to dress code, this can vary between the cruise lines, but don't dismiss "dressing up" completely. It can actually be quite fun to have to dress up in a cocktail dress/tuxedo for a formal night occasionally. You'll be surprised what you get used to!

I'm off on a cruise tomorrow actually (perk of the job) but if you have any general cruise questions I'll be back at the weekend!

Not when you're sz24 it's not! Thanks for the tips, I'm going to search again for a longer cruise and see what that turns up Smiley smile
