Finger print trees?

future.mrs.c, 15 July, 2013 at 19:48 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi everyone,

Keep seeing the phrase 'finger print tree' coming up. Can someone explain to me what it's all about? Lol!

Thanks Smiley smile

An alternative to a guest book. It is a picture of a tree with bare branches, guests use ink to add their fingerprints giving the tree leaves.

Thank you. So no message? Just finger prints?

Yep, they're just finger prints- although people often sign their print with their name. (Picture below probably helps illustrate what I mean a little better)

Sometimes couples also have a "traditional" guest book alongside the print tree for guests who want to leave a message too ?

I think they're fantastic. Especially for a small wedding like ours, where we would barely fill a guest book. I got mine from http://www.intwinedesign.co.uk/ she tweaked if for us until it was perfect.

I only discovered them on Hitched too! I asked my dad to make us one, looking at getting around 80 or so leaves on it. Not all day and evening guests signed it, but the majority did and we love it! Unfortunately dad cracked the glass as he was putting it back in its frame the day after the wedding, but once we have bought new glass it will take pride of place our bedroom..... Despite not matching our room colours at all!

Hmmmm I don't know whether it would be told much or not. Personally I've always found it awkward to think of something original to put into a guest book, which was partly the reason for us not having one. Besides, I figured it would end up shoved in the loft and I'd like to have a visible reminder. I guess it depends how you display the book and tree as to how well used they will be. You could perhaps keep the guest book with the photobooth so guests would be a little more relaxed when they write in it? Wehad the tree on a table next to the welcome drinks, so as my sister and BIL greeted them on their arrival, they were able to get them to 'sign in' to the reception and then grab a glass of bubbly. Obviously for the evening guests there were no greeters and guests either automatically signed in or I asked a few of them if they had done it. Like I said, we didn't get EVERY guests print on there bug its still a wonderful souvenir. Make sure you have a pack of baby wipes there though so folk can make sure they aren't leaving prints everywhere lol! Xx
