Fireplaces - flashes please

Any ideas for what I can put in a fireplace to make it look better? We went to the venue last night and the fireplace in the room looks a little bare.

    Candles? What are your wedding colours? I'm having a winter wedding and we have a few fireplaces at our venue, they already have things in but if they didn't I'd have candles and maybe a vase with twigs and lights. Or how about a photo display? (obviously making sure it didn't get set alight!!)

    We are doing the same as we have a huge fire to fill and it will be summer so looks like an empty black cavern!
