Fireworks

Brunilde2015, 2 February, 2015 at 14:28 Posted on Planning 0 16

Is anyone planning on having fireworks at their reception, or has anyone been to a wedding with fireworks in the evening?

I love firework displays so it's something I would love to do, but they seem to be expensive and i'm unsure if people would really be interested at that time of night after a few drinks.

I'd love to hear any views ,especially from anyone who can tell me if they went down well at a wedding they have been to x

We had fireworks but it was a November wedding! I'm really glad we did as I love them and people oooh'ed and ahhh'ed it was a nice little extra.

We brought them offline as a single ignition display so you light it once and they run for 2-3minutes and the man kindly send us a free extra box so we got a 6min display for £300 xx

That sounds really good value. The time of year makes me worry more, as it's august I will go dark rather late and people may be too into drinking/dancing by that time

We booked our venue on the waterfront. A few months later we were told that it is the prime spot for watching that city's annual fireworks' display. I am soooo excited. I do not care if nobody out watches it, but I will be watching it. ?

Well that makes me very jealous Ash you get them for free lol.

I do love fireworks so maybe even if it is only me it'll be worth it. I can drag my new hubby with me

I really want to get these to surprise OH. I definitely won't be able to afford a display set to music, though - they're so expensive!

Nice idea! Do check if your venue allows them though. Quite a few venues don't.

I checked with the venue today. They allow them if arranged through them with a specific company. Another reason I think it will be expensive!

This is something that both me and the H2B desperately wanted, and particularly as a surprise for everyone! But our venue doesn't allow them past 9.30pm and in July that's just too light for them =( H2B is devastated! I'm so jealous of anyone having them now!!

    We had them. ?

Ours was a December wedding. The fireworks started a little after 10pm and went for about 15 minutes. It was bloody freezing but everyone came out and watched and we'd arranged for a supper buffet when we went back in, so there were sausage and bacon butties and potato wedges for everyone to help them warm up again! It was arranged through our venue and cost £495.

Here's a couple of photos. I'm wearing my uncle's jacket as he didn't think my lace bolero would cut it in -2 temperatures! Looking at the photos now, though, I do wish I'd just grinned and dealt with it.

WE would love to have fireworks, but as were getting married in July its a no go as it will not be dark enough. My friend had them at their wedding a couple of years ago and they were great, everyone went outside to see them despite the cold - It was a November wedding so they were perfect Smiley smile

I went to a wedding with them, we were all dancing and drinking having a great time and then had to get disturbed to go outside and stand in the cold for 5 minutes. The fireworks were ok but not great then we went inside and the atmosphere just died. Maybe I'm just grumpy! lol

    Hi,

We see fireworks at a few weddings and so long as you work out the timings correctly they go down really well!

The last two times there have been fireworks I announced them after our first set had finished. Everyone went outside, ooh'd and aaahh'd then came back in and after a drink went back to the dancefloor.
