First Budget

Woo, I got engaged. We're looking at summer 2021, but haven't set a date.

We've had a few conversations between the two of us and my parents, and have a rough idea of money, though we've not much looked into vendors.

My parents are paying for the venue. They are desperate for me to get married locally. (Im Scottish, he's English, someone's family will have to travel)

We are going to hire a photographer, but a friend who's a cameraman will be filming.

Not including the honeymoon, we're looking at spending about 10000.

Does that seem appropriate?

    Congratulations!

I think £10k is a good starting ball park figure. We started with that and it's looking like coming in at around £15k (not including honeymoon).

Biggest spends I found were venue and catering. These were the hardest to cut costs as well, for us. We've saved money by deciding to do our own evening buffet!

You have a good amount of time to save. Good luck! X

Its really hard to say yes or not to that to be honest. I originally said i wasnt spending a penny over £8,000 because its a mad amount of money for one party, but when i started getting quotes i realised for what i wanted it wasnt realistic.

The most expensive things will be the venue, catering and alcohol. start looking at venues you like, and from there you will soon see if your budget is appropriate for what you want.

That being said you can easily have a wedding under £10,000, its just whether your vision for the day you want fits within that, so you may need to compromise.

Our venue cost and catering alone is going to cost £8,250 and then we are aiming to get it all in under £13,000.

I’m in Scotland too and my wedding is coming in at £13,000. Catering was the big one but we found a hotel that would organise everything from the drinks reception to the last dance for good price. Write a guest list to give yourselves an idea of approximate numbers before you go venue hunting.
