First Dances

My h2b once heard a song on the radio and rang me up to tell me to download it and listen to it immediately. I did so, begrudgingly and then heard the song that seemed to explain how we fell in love and why. That song is our first dance and I will also be walking down the aisle to it - 'Better' by Tom Baxter

'Lets Get Married' by The Proclaimers because we love it, it's very fitting, great to dance to and was instrumental in our proposal (such that it was ?).

We're having Falling in love with you again by Imelda May. It's the one thing H2B has been insistent about - apparently he had it in his mind from very shortly after we started dating

Aw, I love Let's Get Married! I've never heard of Tom Baxter though, I must confess. My fiance is a DJ and the last wedding he did they requested a song by an unsigned band (I forget who..) - he had some trouble finding it!

We had Hotel Yorba by The White Stripes (jumped around and headbanged a little). We picked it because it's a song we always dance to when out (I am in Manchester, BTW) and the lyrics were used in our invitation stationery.

Hoping to have Adieu by Enter Shikari, it's a bit long though, so might have to have a practise first!

Hooberstank - The Reason. We both love it, it is a bit different and it sums up our relationship.

I think we'll either be going for Amazed by Lonestar - its always been 'our song' ever since we got together, or Ellie Gouldings How Long Will I Love You, whenever it comes on the radio it literally makes me stop whatever I'm doing so I can listen to it, the words are so beautiful and I think it sums up love and marriage perfectly. The other thing it has in its favour is that its a pretty short song, great for Mr K who hates dancing!

We need to decide between Ellie Goulding- How long will I love you or Christina Perry- A thousand years x

Phil Collins - groovy kind of love.

ive had loads planned in my head over the years but oh chose this one entirely on his own before we'd even started planning which considering he shows very little interest I thought was incredibly sweet x

We're having olly mums dance with me tonight. Oh suggested it we use to joke our son looked like a mini olly murs in the summer with his little straw hat, coloured jeans and stripy tops and we used to sing that at him and together so it's more of a family song.

We're having "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer. We both love it and it's been our song for a long time - when we first met and I was working away a lot he put it onto a few mix CDs that he made for me to listen to when I was driving to the other end of the country!

Am stuck between them two songs as well ? x

I don't think it's controversial I think people get too caught up on what they 'should' do and not what makes them happy as a couple.

Takkaeli - have you posted about this song before? If it was you I just wanted to say that I absolutely love it. I'd not heard it before, so went to listen on You Tube, downloaded it on iTunes and after months I still can't get it out of my head!

We were thinking of having seal- kiss from a rose or goo good dolls- iris. It is so hard to decide.

We thought about Iris too! But probably the cover version by New Found Glory. We don't really have a 'song' as such. Other contenders at the moment are Stay by Lisa Loeb (or again the New Found Glory version) and Teenage Dream by Katy Perry.

Aint no pleasing you by Chas and Dave!!! Initially we werent gonna do a first dance as we dont have a special song and have totally diff music taste but we had a think,wanted something a bit different and tongue-in-cheek and it sums us up perfectly lol.

We're having You Light Up My Life by Debbie Boone. We haven't got a song, as such and we were watching Strictly when this song came on and we both looked at each other and said this is the one.

I'd never heard this before so looed it up on youtube and sent it to my OH at work cus I thought the lyrics described us perfectly ("she wears heels but she always falls" is so me. He's always having to catch me when I wear heels cus I live in flats lo) and HE suggested we change our first dance to this but keep it a secret so that everyone still expects our original choice (seasons of love from rent but I think I'm going to use this as my walking up the aisle song). Think we have a new winner lol.
