First Dress Search! Updated with Pic

CupcakeQueen, 30 August, 2009 at 22:59 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi All

I am going for the first time tomorrow to look at and try on some dresses and feel weirdly nervous!! Is that very unusual?

Anything I should know/ask/do?

Thanks

Laura

    Ooo it's so much fun!

Don't rule anything out. I had my heart set on a silver 20/30's number... yet found the more traditional dresses suited my shape so much better.

Are you going on your own?

I am going with two of my bridesmaids, I think its because I am not body confident and want to feel lovely in the dresses and not awful! Dont want my illusion shattered!

I went today with my mum and 2 bridesmaids who all fell in love with this dress on me. I do like it and it has some amazing detailing not seen so well in this picture, but I didnt get that 'moment' until I put on a veil too and then cried!

Im 99% sure I really like this dress and although I havent tried on many I do think I will go back to the same sort of dress (although orginally I said this style would be my worst nightmare!)

I also did find the whole process very undifnifying and wouldnt want to go through it lots of times!

Any opinions please? (Please excuse the face!)

I think you look lovely, the dress is beautiful and really suits your figure. I wouldn't worry too much about have the 'moment'. I wouldn't say that I had a 'wow this is the one' moment when I tried on my dress but I definately know its the one for me. Many brides on here will say the same, that they had imagined experiencing an overwhelming rush when they found their dress but it doesn't alway happen like that. x

Thank you Sherbert, my wedding is a winter wedding with a 'sparkle' theme, and although you cant really see this dress is absolutely covered in sparkle! Which I think is what sells an otherwise common style of dress to me as something more unique!

It does make my waist look much smaller than usual!

That's what I love about wedding dresses is the way they bring you in. I wish all clothes were made with hidden corsets ha ha.

Thank you Kirsty- I just looked back on the post with your wedding dress on too as I thought yours was lovely and wintery and they are of simular styles!

I tried on maybe 4 but all of completely different styles- ruffles, sexy, coloured, big etc and this was the best.

You know I am not actually too sure who it is by! All the lady said was that I kept going for the same designer even though that wasnt delibrate!

I am glad you all like it- I took my Maid of Honour along with me as a 'critical friend' so I wasnt talked into buying something that wasnt perfect and she cried when saw it on!!

I have bought an ivory feather wrap for outside pictures but other than that its all inside so I should be ok.

Oh lovely! Any pics of BM dress??

It is exciting! I thought I was doing too much too soon but then you realise how much there is to do and the more time the better! Am starting to make my 'save the dates' soon to send out at Christmas! I cant wait until our weddings come around- so nice having a sort of twinnie!

Its a lovely dress- I too would add a sash- so Christmassy!

I know- mine has just come under the year and a half mark but mentally it makes all the difference! I work in a school and am just about to go back after the summer holidays and its always Christmas before you can blink and then just one year to go! We plan on holding a little get together with close friends and family on the one year mark and me and OH are going to make an effort to do a little something on the 29th of each month between now and the wedding to help the time pass!

I personally like having it to look forward to as the day will be over all too quickly!
