First emotional moment + table dec idea

soraneko, 4 October, 2014 at 17:40 Posted on Planning 0 5

The OH is away for the weekend so I thought I would take some time to chill out, then felt creative so started trying to design the cake and get an idea of exactly which bits I want for tables, etc... then got around the the wording of stationery.

I love the idea of having little 'thank you' notes in napkin pockets for each table like so:

with the idea being that our sweet table is probably going to be our favours (if I get my own way!) and as I was working out what the ones online actually say (the inspiration photos can be such low quality/so artsy some words are too blurry to read) I eventually managed to work out the words and as I read it all back I got all choked up - this hardly ever happens so I'm kind of pleased and excited about how other people will feel when they see them too.

Is this a huge cliche I've never heard of?

I really like the idea of the thank you cards. Would you be happy to share the wording? I am the same get choked up just talking about the wedding, I'm a big softie, get it from my mum's side.

Not at all, I just didn't want to make the post too long Smiley smile I'm not really often that emotional and H2B is being really blasé so it feels like I'm almost not allowed... so it was good to feel something! Closest I got before this was at a venue visit last weekend - felt so exciting that that might be where I'm getting married and all my family and friends will be there one day Smiley smile

Wording I have worked out (and tweaked a little)

To our family and friends, it means the world to us to have you here.
    THANK YOU
For the support, encouragement and memories,
For the love and laughter that you have contributed to our lives.
You are our favourite people in the world.
We will be forever grateful to each and every one of you
For being a part of our lives, big or small.

    As a token of our appreciation, we are proud to offer our gift to you;
An evening of memories to cherish forever.

I think instead of "memories" is said something like "antics", which isn't very 'us' Smiley smile

I will be working on how the folding will have to be cos I'd like the napkin to cut off at the "Thank you" so it needs to be taken out to be read completely.

Love your wording - so sincere without being cheesy. Thanks for the idea!

There are lots of ideas for this sort of thing on pinterest that I have seen. I was thinking of having a little luggage tag type thing that is attached to the cutlery all tied pretty somehow (as we are having a destination wedding it is really important to me that we show people how much we appreciate them coming)
