First fitting tomorrow!! UPDATED with flashes from second fitting!

Samiire, 16 March, 2015 at 21:04 Posted on Planning 0 26

Argh, so nervous for my first fitting tomorrow!!!

Excited too, of course, but so many worries. Will it look as good as the sample!? Can they alter it how I want!? Will I still like it!?

Wish me luck!!

Good luck, enjoy. It's my final fitting tomorrow so also excited. Iwas really nervous and worried when it was my first fitting, but I needn't have been. I loved my dress all over again and I love how I look in it. You will too. X

Good luck, I'm sure it'll all be fine. I worried about my first fitting as I hadn't lost any weight, in fact I'd gained a few pounds but as it was a lace up dress it was fine thankfully!

I'm sure you'll still love it and alterations shouldn't be a problem, depending on what you want. Let us know how you get on!

    Hi all

Well it went okay. Even though the dress was ordered in my nearest size it still felt far too big for me. It needs to be taken in at the bust, bum and thighs, plus the length needs to be shortened.

I'm going to be wearing a thin sparkly belt on my natural waist and I haven't decided if I'm going to wear the straps yet but they just click on and off so no big deal there.

    What do you think?

Fabulous dress personal I would not wear the straps, but that's just me. When you try it on again after the alterations that's when I would probably decide about the straps

    Good luck xxx

Ooh, it's beautiful! You look gorgeous. I'd be inclined to go straps for the ceremony and then take them off at some point if they're easy to do that with Smiley smile

Beautiful dress, and as others have said I like it with the straps, but maybe you could take them off for the evening? I'm doing something similar, wearing a short bolero style top over my strapless dress for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, then losing it for the evening reception. Easier to dance, and will give me 2 different looks (and probably surprise the people who don't realise it isn't attached to the rest of the dress!)

Ooh lovely dress! I think wear the straps for the day and then take them off for the evening. 2 looks in one!

Great dress! I would wait until the seamstress takes it in before you decide on the straps.

Very very pretty! Just wait til they do all the adjustments too, it'll be beauts! I really like it with the straps! I'd def wear them for at least part of your day, it's nice you get two different looks!

Its a really beautiful dress. It doesn't look as though you need too much done to it either apart from what you describe.

Thank you ALL so much for your lovely comments!! I'm going to take your advice and wait for my next fitting to see how the alterations affect my decision about with or without straps. I do like your ideas about straps on for the day and off for the evening!!

Next fitting is 13th April so I'll update you again then!

I had my second fitting today! My dress still needs more pinning again around bust and bum, but even still you can see it coming together more now! Flashes:

Your dress is gorgeous. I think i prefer it without the straps but as someone mentioned in an earlier post if the straps can be taken off easily i would wear them for the ceremony or during the day then take them off later as it makes the dress look completely different.

@TreacleTart - No, it's ivory over ivory, although they do do an ivory over gold. I think it's just because it was a really hot day and the sun was glaring down through the skylight onto me!
