First relationship after a long gap

glider12000, 1 April, 2009 at 23:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I have just started a relationship with a girl for the first time since I was engaged 4.5 years ago. Is it really hard adjusting back in to a relationship way of life after so long?

It`s not helping that I`m fully engrossed in training at the moment and she is doing a lot of long haul flights. What is the best way to ease back into it, or is it just see what happens?

It seems to me like you are overthinking it. I would take it as it comes. If its meant to last a life time then you have forever so why rush ? just enjoy it xx

I think WT's right. Just take it for what it is, one day at a time (and all that cliched bollocks). Every relationship is different anyway so it's not as if you're going back to something, just moving onto something different. In my considerable experience of buggering up relationships, overanalysing it is one of the best ways to spoil it.

I would say that the fact you are both very busy means that you won't get a chance to rush in too quickly. Take it slowly, enjoy the early days (they are the best days!) and make sure you make a bit of time for each other but still keep time for yourselves too. It'll shake itself out one way or the other soon enough.

    Basically, just have fun!

You are definitely way, way over thinking things, you do tis so much where women are concerned! You KNOW you need to just see how it goes, let it progress in an organic way and don't obssess about it. Even as I type this I know it's futile... anyway, I hope she is lovely and you have a great time together, when you manage to see each other
