First world bride problems

.A.S., 31 May, 2014 at 18:14 Posted on Planning 0 7

So, I was chin wagging with a bride I had in work with me today for her make up consultation and we got talking about our first world wedding problems; all the things you wake up at 2am worrying about that really are too ludicrously crazy to even share with your H2B. We had such a giggle taking about it is thought I would transfer over here and see what you all had to add...

I have a warm skin tone and with the right foundation I look pretty tanned... I lay awake wondering if I'll look like a wotsit on the big day. I wept.

i have wept at my inability to work out how much helium a 3ft balloon truly needs... AND whether they will look like "saggy" knickers if I fill them the night before.

i wept in my dress fitting Thursday because the seamstress made my armpit bleed the tiniest smidge. I explained to her I am a weepy person and to just carry on. She was mildly alarmed -_-

I'm amazed I'm not weeping now.

I tend to think all my wedding related issues are 'first world problems'...finding a dress, bouquet, invitations, all that stuff. But it brings me back down to earth cos I remind myself how lucky we are to be able to afford a wedding at all, how amazing it is to live in a culture where women can choose who and when they marry, etc. It's a good reminder that my wedding isn't the most important thing in the world!

I've not had any wedding tears (yet!) but trivial 'problems' so far have included...

    Champagne or Prosecco?!

Do all the suit hangers need to match?

What 'favour' do you give a baby?!

    How many cake tiers?

I have many first world wedding problems….

I am a cryer. I can cry at anything, and for no logical reason! I almost cried the other day teaching my class because one of them put a full stop and capital letter in the correct place in a sentence - this is something they have not done all year! - but you get the idea!!

I have a terrible problem of bottling all my 'issues' up. And just thinking I will deal with them by myself because H2B will think they are ridiculous. The problem is: I talk in my sleep. Not just random words, but full blown conversations. And I'm so honest in my sleep!! If anything is bothering me at all, H2B will know about it the night it pops into my head!

    Issues so far:

Hats (I did write a post about my crazy wedding nightmare) but I really don't like them, and I really don't want them at my wedding!

My profile. I have broken my nose 3 times, and I just hate my profile! Pictures of my in profile smiling make me look like the child catcher. I am a front on only person.

H2B won't do a proper first dance! (This is a biggie, as I have been training in ballroom and latin american for 22years now, so I want a nice dance! Not a complicated one, just one where some thought has been put into it!)

Make up: I don't wear it normally, so I feel weird in it. Will I even look like me on the day if I have a full face on?!

Sweating: I've got a lace strapless dress, will it start to smell if I sweat too much in the day? After all, we're getting married in August, so there is some chance of a little heat!

Flowers: SIL is doing the flowers, which is fab, she is a florist, but her style is VERY different to mine. I'm more of a rustic/country garden, and she is more Kim Kardashian and bling!

Cake: is there going to be enough? For I'm pretty crtain I could eat like the top tier and maybe 30 cupcakes to myself…...

I'm sure there are more, but I am tired, so maybe H2B will inform me of another in the morning!!!

    I totally get this.

Earlier this week, I sobbed my heart out and had a row with my Mum over getting a videographer. Really not an issue in the grand scheme of things, but it the time, it felt like the world would end.

I also cried when H2B finally wrote a blog entry for our wedding website. It was sooooo sweet. I almost copied and pasted it to hitched so you could all see it!

Everything is setting me off at the moment. I keep getting really stressy over ridiculously unimportant things and crying over anything cute or romantic. And I still have ages to go!!

    Love this post!!

My first world wedding problems so far are:

Wedding cars: how will I transport all the people to the church and then how will I get them all back again??
Food: I don't eat chicken but a chef friend told me chicken is the easiest thing to cook at a wedding with a lot of guests. What do I do??
Accommodation the night before: OH parents have booked the ONLY suite in the hotel for the night before my wedding Smiley sad I wanted to sleep in luxury!!

Agree with other posts though in that we are so lucky to have such minor things are problems - and there have been times when I have wanted to just forget it all, elope somewhere, and donate all the money to charity. Sometimes, the amount that is spent on weddings just makes me feel a bit ill!!
