Fish and chips - opinions please - UPDATED!!! * *

SSMILEY, 11 October, 2009 at 18:15 Posted on Planning 0 3

? Hi

Our wedding is in 4 weeks, we're having fish and chips and ice cream as we're on a budget and we're having a sea side theme.

My query is how to serve the fish and chips - the venue does have crockery and staff to serve - but I will have to pay extra for both of these as we're not getting the food from then.

I just don't know if its possible to serve fish and chips to 70 before it goes cold, the easiest option would be to serve it in the boxes it comes in but I can think of a few people - including my mum, who will be disgusted at this!

Help please!!??

THE VENUE GOT BACK TO ME TODAY AND THEY SAID IT WILL COST AN EXTRA £200 FOR TEA & COFFEE (SERVE YOURSELF FROM AN URN), BREAD & BUTTER, 'REAL' CUTLERY & CROCKERY & 3 STAFF TO SERVE FISH & CHIPS ONLY. THIS SEEMS REALLY EXCESSIVE TO ME AND I'M RELUCTANT TO PAY IT AS WE'RE ON A TIGHT BUDGET AND THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF FISH AND CHIPS, BUT ITS NOW WORKING OUT AT ABOUT £7 A HEAD!

AND I HAVE TO PAY £5 PER TABLE FOR A TABLECLOTH.

HELP/ADVICE PLEASE!!!

I've seen it served in the boxes it comes in......a couple of good reasons for this......easy to carry, keeps it warm, no washing up afterwards!

Could you serve in the boxes but have plates for anyone who wants one, which I guess won't be many people. Wipes for greasy fingers might be appreciated though Smiley smile

Hiya, I love the idea of fish'n'chips for a wedding reception (I wanted this for our wedding, but OH wasnt so keen). How about serving it in the wrapping - on a plate? then if people want, they can empty theirs out on to the plate or (like me) eat it from the wrapper... yummmm
