*FLASH* - Been playing with flowers!!

19JB87, 26 May, 2012 at 23:03 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi All!

Mum and I are doing our own flowers for the wedding! :-)

We went to a garden centre and had a look at foliage the other day (we're buying them now, planting them, then next year, they should be full enough to use!) and then bought a very cheap pack of white roses, lol. We then stole flowers from Mum's house that she had around and just put together some very small little arrangements - just to see if the flowers and colours would go together!

I made this buttonhole:

I think I'll use a calla lily as the flower, though!! :-)

And this very small bouquet!!

I like the colours and I think the flowers work quite nicely together!

FYI - they will be a lot more full! But we didn't want to chop too much off the foliage bushes that we just bought!!

I hope you like them!! Smiley smile

How much would it cost to make flowers for your whole wedding do you think?

They loook lovely. You will get so much pleasure from doing them with your mother. My daughter and I made lots of things for her wedding and we were so proud when it all came together on the day. I am now doing things with my other daughter ready for Sept. It is so nice when people say "where did you get them done" and you can reply that you did them yourselves.!!

It didn't take long at all! I had a couple of goes before I came to this, but I think if you pick the right flowers, then it will come together with the right look.

My mum is a very accomplished gardener - she's just set up her own plant business. She goes to craft fairs & farmers markets - But she's not a trained florist or anything, just knows what things are and how to look after them.

Thanks all for the wonderful comments!

We did these just to make sure we felt that we could do the whole thing - I'm pretty sure we can and we'll save a fortune!

Calla lillies seem to be around £8 a stem at the moment! But we plan on having a greenhouse full instead! ?
