*Flash* Button Bouquet

Zoexx, 7 December, 2011 at 13:32 Posted on Planning 0 8

My first button bouquet! I am making these for my 2 teenage sisters who are my bridesmaids. The rest of use are having flowers but thought I'd do these as a surprise so they have something to keep.

You've got a nice mix of colours. However, are they meant to be teardrop-shaped? If not, I think a little bit more time organising the buttons is well worth it. I made a brooch bouquet and while the wiring and such took the most time, I spent a while in the arranging (or "fluffing) of the final bouquet. I fiddled for ages, moving brooches around, seeing which naturally settled high or low, which ones gravitated to the centre etc. I found this gave a very balanced look (and a perfectly round one).

Thanks all for you comments, I'm not a perfectionist and I'm very impatient :0) it isn't a teardrop bouquet and I see what your saying I'll have a little poke around and shuffle them about.

I got my buttons from ebay, charity shops and friends x

I found that the smaller pieces tended to drop underneath the larger brooches. This was OK for me as it gave me a bed of beads supporting the larger brooches. Have you got some less exotic and smaller buttons that might do a similar job? Once I realised this was what the smaller bead clusters were happier doing, I separated my pieces into "small" and "big", gathered the "small" bits together to create a regular shape, then poked the "big" brooches through at relatively even spaces.

But it DOES require patience Smiley smile It took me at least two evenings to do the arranging, and a further evening to wrap it together (I used a tall kitchen roll inner to support the arrangement overnight).
