    Is everyone having the same flavours for each tier or having different flavours? Thoughts on traditional fruit cake?

    Ours will be similar to this one, but with a touch of mint green as well as the pink, ivory and a pale peach. I can't remember exactly because we took along a couple of photos and our lovely cake lady showed us a picture that she had which we loved so went for that one!

    We're having four tiers and all different flavours - cherry bakewell, chocolate orange, lemon, and honey infusion. She's a fab cake maker and is doing ours for £200, including delivery (an hour away) and free hire of a gorgeous cake stand which she spent months sourcing from America after I showed her a picture of it and said how much I love it. Bit of a bargain we thought and I can't wait to see it and taste it now!

    Paying £440 for 5 tiers. Bottom tier is fake, then red velvet, carrot, fruit and top tier is butterscotch. The ribbons are pink with gold broaches. Here's a pic of the 3 tier version...

    I'm having something similar to this for a single layer;

    and 35 of these all assorted;

    My youngest daughter has organised mates rates so it comes to a princely sum of £70.

    Aly I love the detail on your single tier and your individual cakes look great (as does the price!)

    Ours will probably be something like this. Can't decide on flowers, though - torn between traditional spring blooms, dendrobium galaxy orchids (blue), and cherry blossom.

    Ah interesting to get costs and see flashes of what others are having.

    I'd like something like this, one tier fruit cake & one tier sponge, I've had a few quotes, the lady I'd really like to go with has quoted £340 plus extra for the sugar craft flowers, but she is very good, yet I'm still undecided.

    My mouth is watering- these cakes look amazing!!

    My little sis is paying for our cake as a wedding present, we are having 3 tiers- chocolate, madeira and lemon. We have used a lady who does it as a hobby and it's £175 + £35 delivery. We are going to buy a fruit cake that can just be cut up and served with the cake. We are also planning to have a 'cheese' wedding cake- this is my way of getting cheese and biscuits without paying the venue a fortune.

    This is our cake inspiration; it will have black ribbon and a snowflake brooch

    This was ours - Chocolate orange flavour Smiley smile We ate all the small ones at the wedding, then we gave half of the big one away to people that weren't invited to the wedding. The other half we froze and then ate at Christmas when the family were round - so ours lasted a long time!

    Chocolate cake with chocolate truffle filling, covered in milk chocolate, with white chocolate roses and white and dark chocolate decoration. Each cake layer is 5 inches thick.

    I went to this cake shop with the friend I went dress shopping with as it's in the same village as my dress shop and she got her wedding cake there. They're expensive so we had no intention of using them. They gave me some samples to bring away for fiance to try. When he did he said, "We're having this cake!" When I asked if it was worth £130 more than the other we'd been quoted for he said yes!

    Then when we went to order it, fiance decided he wanted the next size up (which is technically too big for the number of guests we're having) as it looked more impressive, so we've ended up spending a whopping £525 on the cake! His service is second to none though and he'll liaise with the venue to deliver to them - last time I had to collect and deliver the cake myself and I've never been so scared in my life as when that was in the boot of my car on the M1!

    This is what we were thinking, but without the little coloured balls on each tier, the swirly bits on the bottom tier, and the snowflake things on the top.
    Instead, we'd have white balls (they look like snowballs) and then a snowflake brooch on the white icing ribbon, and he wants a topper that looks like us - he especially wants the topper of me to be pushed half into the cake to show the height difference between us!!

    One layer would have to be chocolate he insists.

    This is our beautiful wedding cake - Bottom tier is a traditional vanilla sponge with white chocolate frosting and icing, second tier is chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and icing and then top tier is white chocolate again (We are keeping this as ours to make sure we have some of the cake!) in the back we are having a cutting board of normal wedding cake with jam etc. In total including delivery we are paying £295, was so impressed with this, we saw it at a wedding fayre and thought wow that is beautiful bet its too expensive so we was so excited with the price!

    Lovely n cute n kitsch cakes ladies! This is the style me n OH have agreed on so far, I quite like the lace work icing style too, but kept going back to the more simple style of this, we have a meeting with a cake lady in a couple weeks to try sample flavours, will def be going for different flavours in there, I think fruit cake is bleugh so if we have that it can be the littlest layer!! Were thinking carrot cake n lemon cake maybe...as for costs I don't know! The lady were meeting isn't the cheapest but her cake is supposed to be delicious, n as it's a fairly simple style were after, maybe around the £325 mark? I might try n arrange a couple other cake meetings if her quote is crazy high

    This is our inspiration, but we are having an extra tier, lilac ribbons, lilac/purple sugar roses, and having vanilla sponge with jam and cream, chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, and lemon cake with lemon buttercream and lemon curd! Smiley smile

    We are paying just over £400, but that is including hire of a magnificent cake stand (our venue's stand isn't big enough!) and delivery to our venue which is 45 minutes away. Cant wait to taste the final thing! Smiley smile
