Flash me your centerpieces... I need inspiration!

25 June, 2011 at 21:40 Posted on Planning 0 27

In desperate need of some inspiration.... Need centerpieces for 6 tables. Its for our wedding reception (we are not doing the traditional wedding breakfast but still wanted nice tables!)... I was thinking of just goldfish bowls with orange calla lillies in (my bouquet flowers) and perhaps some crystals scattered around but OH reckons this is a bit boring so need some inspiration!

We had fish bowls too as I don't like big centrepieces.

Wow they are gorgeous! Are those lava lamps at the base? I want something tall for my centre pieces and was toying with the idea of feathers....?

Im just hiring them so to be honest so i dont really no ? ... I thought id have something tall because my venue has high ceilings so just to add abit of height to the tables.

I was debating those or the tall martini glasses those look lovely too.

It is gel in the actual vase with a floralyte Eriser base. You can use floralytes like this in base:

These are mine, I love willow and we can keep/give it away afterwards for home decor as it lasts.

I'm doing my own. They will be lanterns such as these with hearts hanging from the handle:

I'm then going to make wreaths to put round the outside of the base of the lantern. A bit like this but probably neater:

These were ours, and they had a floralyte in them which we switched on in the evening:

Thank you! No I had it all done for us. Originally we were having orchids but couldn't get them in the colour! I'm so pleased with these though, gerberas are so striking. Lots of people commented that they were a nice change to candelabras' too.

I LOVE the sweets idea! i was going to put sweets in small jars on the table with each person having a small sweet bag to fill.

were these just for decoration or did you and your guests eat the sweets in them? EDIT - Just seen the little scoops in them! x

You can buy the gel & floralytes on Ebay easily enough. 1 pkt is enough to do 2 vases if you are using Martini vases. if you use the Lily vases then you can do at least 5 with one packet. To get the bubble effect just fill the bottom and then add watter to it so it is not so dense. Make sure the opening of the vase is big enough to take the floralyte though as some lily vases narrow on the neck & they won't go into the vase.

Here are a few more using the gel & light:

    and a few other ideas:

There are 100's of pics in here:

Greenbean my florist is doing my willow centrepieces and then she will attach orchids to it. I know you can buy the willow in bulk but hopefully some of the HIBS will be able to tell you the best place to source it ?

It's so hard to pick as there's so many possibilities to choose from! I had a practise run with my florist just to see different ways of doing the flowers, I have no imagination otherwise!

I'm *probably* having jugs of flowers like this:

This one is a rough mock-up I did with my florist recently but it shows the natrual way I'd like the flowers to be!

    Good luck picking your centrepieces!

I'm thinking about the idea of a few gerberas in a tall vase on each, and then some little roses on the top table, like MrsJenLakrin's post Smiley smile x
