Flash your cake & flower ideas :-) (Inspiration needed)

AussieBride, 21 April, 2009 at 14:23 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hiya ?

This may have already been done but I am needing inspiration for the wedding cake & flowers. For the cake I like things with flower, ribbons or sparkles but OH likes things a bit more simple so trying to find a compromise. For the flowers, I will be in Ivory and my bridemaids are in a soft/medium looking green dress & the guys are wearing the black watch tartan. I can't decide if I prefer something bold like red rose (or those orange ones with the red tips) in a 'woodland' type look with leaves and twigs or if I want something more soft with ivory & other soft colours (illusion roses or soft colours with heather?). My hair is also currently a medium rich red if that makes sense so I'm trying not to clash ?

Thanks for your help in advance! ? xxx

My cake . It is being blinged up though with a glitter over the icing (honestly not in a tacky way) and thistles are being added so there won't be as many callas. The vase at the back corner will also have some crystals on it but not many.

Flowers Won't be in pink though just white and the ribbon will be the same colour as my dress. My bm is having a smaller version and the ribbon to match her dress. I didn't want any colour in the flowers so my h2b could have a calla and thistle buttonhole.

My cake was a simple M&S cake, and the flowers were done by Passion Wedding Flowers (who are a HIB) ... and the benefit of silk flowers is that they still look as good today, over a year later! The cake is long eaten!....

Hi OLL .... yup, they stacked just fine - I honestly don't recall buying seperate supports for it but I could be wrong - the venue put it together for us ... I can ask them if they remember!
