Flashy Flashy - DIY invites

Kitty824, 27 March, 2011 at 17:29 Posted on Planning 0 23

MOCK up of invitation - PDA did us proud! got the pocketfolds from PDA and decorated/stamped/embossed them myself. ONLY thing I am stuck on is how to close them. Just a piece of ribbon around looks odd. Any ideas? TIA x

Also what do you think? (honest opinions most definately welcome!)

Honest opinions hmmm.... two words - love it! ?

how did you get the snowflake effect on the top half that looks fab and is that just a stamp at the bottom with the emellishments glued on top? If so its fab - love it all! xx

Thank you so much for your lovely words, I was really stressing about them (still am re:closure)

How? well the top part that is embossed I did with my cuttlebug and a snowflake embossing folder. and the bottom is just a stamp with red gems stuck on.

    Hi

They are fab.... So professional looking. Horray for the Cuttlebug. Hope you didn't buy one just for your invites though!!!

I would just use whiet velcro dots. You don't want to add any more detail to those as they are great the way they are.

    They're fab!

To close them you could use glue dots from Hobby Craft or the like, they're strong enough to hold it and wont tear the invite when it's opened.

Love it! And yay for PDA! We got our card from there too.

The velcro dots are a great idea, that's what I'd do. We went with the ribbon idea for ours because otherwise there was no detail on the front, but I don't think yours needs it and you don't want to cover up that beautiful snowflake design.

Self-adhesive velcro spots can be picked up in haberdashery shops or in the textiles department of any department store. Or you can get them in some craft stores. Or you can buy them online!

We used low tack glue dots from stationers. They weren't too strong to rip the card but held it together well.

These are so pretty! I second (or third) the suggestion of velcro dots. We finished our invites this weekend too - so exciting isn't it?!

Beautiful invites, I'm having a Winter Wonderland Theme Wedding so have added your post to my favourites to return when It's my turn to be thinking of invitations. You've done a brill job and the velcro dots is certainly the best solution. The invites are gorgeous as they are, well done.

They are lovely, very professional looking, well done.

I think a velcro dot to close the flap and maybe a little red jewel like the other ones in the corner of the flap maybe?? x
