Florist SOS

Mrs Renouf, 17 June, 2010 at 23:16 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hello

Having just had our second florist pull out of our big day we are now completely lost as to where to turn for a good, reliable florist - any advice on finding 'the One'?

Suggestions greatfully received!!!

Sorry to hear about this. Is there any particular reason why they pulled out? If it's a case of them closing down (which unfortunately is the usual reason) then it might be worth approaching long established businesses who have been in the town for almost always IFSWIM! If it's because they have double booked, then suppliers like that you don't need! Don't be too disheartened, there are good, reliable florists out there! If you let us know where you are in the country, I'm sure the Brides on here will give you lots of recommendations for fresh wedding florists. If it's artificial flowers you prefer, feel free to browse my website, link below. I've been in the trade for 17 years and specialising in artificial flowers for 9 years so well established LOL. Unfortunately, it is a sad fact that we are losing smaller businesses on the high street - various reasons really such as high rent, rates, lack of bank support, too much competition from the supermarkets, etc. One in three new businesses fail in the first 12 months on the high street and it's not just florists which are affected sadly. You only have to look at the number of local pubs which are closing too. Ask around your friends, work colleagues as they may be able to recommend someone they have had. Hope that helps, Brenda.

That is very sad to hear to have pulled out, where are you and when is the wedding?

Have you asked the venue to recommend someone or your other suppliers , cake maker, photographer etc we generally all know one another locally quite well.

As Benda said a lot of shops are struggling and closing down it is worth looking for a freelance wedding specialist who may work from a studio or unit rather than a shop.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear that. Where abouts in the country are you? I live on the Essex / London borders and our florist is great. I am happy to pass on the website address etc if you are in this area.

Thank you everyone for your kind suggestions. We've spent the last week contacting all our local florists and have had some really good meetings but if anyone can recommend a florist in the West Sussex area (more Hampshire border than East Sussex) it would be great.

Thank you all again - your advice is really appreciated!

Im in Horsham in West Sussex, is that too far? Im happy to pass on the details of the florist I am using. I have actually poached the girl that works from the florist as they arent open that day so she is doing it privately so has worked out much cheaper.
