flower colour question

Karen1980, 13 October, 2009 at 07:14 Posted on Planning 0 2

Following on fromthe burgundy wobbles ive been thinking about my flowers.

The plan was to have a mixed dark red and white bouquet for the BM's and an ivory bouquet for myself with no touches or red.

The groom is wearing ivory wasitcoat and cravat. The plan was for us to both be in ivory and the ushers and BM's have the colour.

Im thnking now that it might look a bit strange and think perhaps the groom having a dark red buttom hole instead of ivory and me having mixed flowers or solid dark red.

Any ideas from you stylish hitchers are welcome~!!

Red and white schemes work well together, but it's very difficult to mix the two within a bouquet. Your eye tends to get drawn to one colour or the other, and you don't get a full view of the bouquets some how - I usually recommend sticking with single colours in the bouquets when designing a red and white scheme. What colour are the bridesmaids wearing? I would suggest having all red flowers for them and all ivory for you. Or, if they're wearing red, have all ivory for the bridesmaids and red for you. It's traditional for the groom's buttonhole to contain elements of the brides bouquet, so if your bouquet is ivory maybe give him an ivory buttonhole with red for everyone else. Or the other way round if you decide to go for a red bouquet. I hope that helps a bit!

    Hi Karen,

Not sure if this will help but I like the idea of having the groom in ivory to match your dress but I think it would look nice if you have some red in your bouquet and the groom's button hole. That way it will all tie in together.

I am having Sage Green bridesmaids and I am hoping that the Dad's and the Best Man will have matching waistcoats and cravats, but I would like my H2B to wear silver so he stands out. (I am having more of a silve and white theme at the reception with just a hint of the green) I am having white hydrangeas and eucalyptus leaves for all the bouquets.

Have a look through my albums of Brides, there are lots of Red & Ivory. It is sometimes easier to see on a real wedding pic:
