Sorry - another post from me but this is becoming my favourite place for all sensible wedding related advice!
OK - I have a white dress. I have one CBM in pale green and I was going to have my two small BMs aged 8/9 (our nieces) in white with a matching ribbon/sash. One of the main reasons for this is that I can get them a pretty little dress from John Lewis for around £60 each and add our own matching ribbon. Also I think that little BMs look lovely in white. The MIL (who is contributing financially to the wedding) keeps saying that white flower girl dresses against my white dress will look silly as my dress won't stand out and that the colour will wash the two little girls out (different complexion to me). But I think that it would be fine - don't most people have white/ivory flowergirls to match their dress?
My SIL got married earlier this year and the MIL bought the girls made to measure dresses that cost over £220 each. The MIL is getting married at christmas and again has spent £200 each on the girls dresses. I know that she is hankering after me getting them a coloured dress to match the theme but I just cannot justify that amount of money on a childs dress. It would also mean that I would then have to get the CBM dress from the same place so that the colours matched which would put the budget up to around £700 for birdesmaid dresses rather than the £250 budgeted. Even though the MIL is contributing to some of the wedding we are still paying over half and there are things that are more important to us.
So really my question is...is the MIL right and will white flower girls not look good or should I stick to my guns with the planned colour scheme.
Thanks all x
