Flower Girls - Not in White / Ivory?

2013_Bride_, 27 February, 2013 at 12:00 Posted on Planning 0 7

Anyone done / doing this?

I've seen some nice light pink dresses that I like.

I don't know what it is about the white / ivory that isn't appealing?

I think it might be because I think it makes them look like they are meant to be mini-brides? Maybe thats the point but I don't know... not keen!

My Flowergirl was in ivory, not at all a mini bride. Otherwise she would have just blended in with the other little girls.

    Thats an interesting point.

We are having no children except our flower girl and page boy so perhaps thats why I hadn't thought of that before.

Our Flowergirl was in purple polka dots on a purple dress. Have a picture somewhere. She was the only child there too. I wanted something relaxed and not ivory.

I have two FG, One being my daughter and one being my niece ... My daughters dress has already been brought and that's a really special ivory dress with a teal ribbon around and a few sequins scattered (I'm in love with her dress) but my original plan was to then put my niece in a teal dress to match my MOH (also my only bridesmaid) so that my daughter stood out a little more but I think we have decided that the teal colour will look too much and swamp a 2 1/2 yr old so I think we are going to also put her in ivory but a different dress.... I think the coloured dresses definitely work but I think it all depends on how old the flower girl is and also the colour scheme. Xxx

We had a mini bridesmaid (she was too old at 9 to be a FG) and she was in champagne and gold to match me.

Unless you are planning something like this, she wont be mistaken for a mini bride. fear not.

Hi, I went for a colour for my flower girl's dress (she'll be 4) just because i love this dress!, i agree with the other posters though the white/ivory are just as nice.

We're having 3 FGs, to begin with I was looking at ivory dresses which would have purple sashes on them to match the bridesmaids, but now they are having the dresses made in purple with ivory sashes, which will hopefully allow them to use the dresses again on other occasions.

Similar to this idea but no flower corsage -

I'm looking at this but considering two options; either bodice in lavender and skirt in ivory or vice versa.
