Flower quote

lily1982, 18 January, 2013 at 07:24 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi everyone Saw the florist on Wednesday to go through some ideas - first thing I told her was our budget and got the quote back this morning and she is £120 over budget- I feel it was a bit pointless telling her our budget when she hasn't tried to keep to it- just wondered what your experiences have been? Have u bartered with them. Tbh I haven't been that impressed by her so far as she is a bit difficult to get hold of. Any thoughts Smiley smile thank you xx

I would go in and say u cant afford that, £20/30 over yea, u can let her off.

    u could always shop around?

maybe try and see what flowers she used and taking out the expensive ones?

try and stick to flowers that are in season.

    good luck Smiley smile

I would agree with you that it's a bit pointless giving a florist a budget if she isn't going to work within reasonable boundaries of it. Are there any flowers that you have said you definitely want? If so, ask if there is an alternative she can use to compromise that will bring the price down. A good way to keep costs down if a budget is limited is to spend the bulk of your budget on your bouquet and your Groom's buttonhole and the absolute minimum you can get away with on the bridesmaids. All eyes will be on you and your partner at the wedding and, although people will notice the maids and they will be on some of the photos, the majority of the photos will be focusing on you as a couple and these are the ones you will be looking at in years to come. A single rose or lily is hugely popular for bridesmaids and doesn't cost the earth which leaves extra pennies in the pot for something a little bit more extravagant for you!

I'd advise shopping around if ur not keen on her, u need to like ur suppliers I think, so if u build that razor with them u know u can trust them, u don't want an in-contactable supplier for something so important. I met a florist last Saturday and she was lovely, I said I liked peonies, hydrangeas and sweet peas and she told me they're all expensive lol so I'm going for other things and she was telling me how much they can be per stem and said if me and my mum can grow some hydrangeas and sweet peas then drop them off she'll incorporate them into our vases. Def stick with budget and ask for advise of affordable in-season flowers

    good luck x
