flowers and dress

vikmast, 11 July, 2010 at 13:39 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hello everyone, not been on here in a while as had few prolems to sort out with car etc, and to top it off my partner has just lost his job so we are having to do some cost cuts. One way is to have silk flowers instead of real, and ive found a website that has some really lovely bouquets, and even a horseshoe with flowers on. Its called silk flower designs. What are your opinions on this?? They are cheaper and will last forever.

Another problem I was wondering wether you all could help with is that i tried on a gorg romantica gown, the lady in the shop told me it was called Clara, but I cant find any pics of it anywhere on the internet, as I want to refresh my memory on it before I go to other shops. It had a sweetheart neckline, and material roses on side and back, with a pleated front. Its not on the designers website as its not a 2010 model, can anyone tell me where I mite get a picture, as the shop i went to try it on in is and hour away from me. thanks

Silk flowers do last forever - no doubt about that! Costwise, the more realistic artificial flowers are around the same price as fresh now although the most expensive blooms such as orchids, calla lilies etc do work out much cheaper than fresh. Feel free to browse my website for artificial floral ideas - link below. Hope that helps.

I prefer fresh flowers but agree silk or artificial flowers are a good way of keeping costs down. I have been using a Wedding Flower Price Guide though and found the quotes i have been getting to be in the same region of the price guide which has been reasonable.

The Wedding Flower Price Guide is available through Cost of Wedding Flowers

Calla Lillies I am finding quite expensive so still not sure I will do yet.

Thanks for your advice, We are wanting red and white roses in sept, and real bouquets were coming up at around £70 for mine and £40 each for both bridesmaids, plus £4.50 each for buttonholes and £8.50 each for corsages and £30 for a pomander for flowergirl. The site i looked at mine would cost £34.99 and each bridesmaid £29.99 and was cheaper for the buttonholes and corsages too. I do like the idea of having real flowers but cost now is an issue as I want a full bouquet of red roses and nothing else other then diamantes.

I am considering artificial flowers as they are cheaper, you can get them in advance and if you wanted you could also sell them on afterwards to recoup some of the money back.

As for the dress, I cannot get any online pictures of mine as it is an old design and the designers website has also been reshot and they didn't keep any of the old pictures (apparently - although this sounds a little odd to me!)
