flowers - for everyone?

napappy, 7 July, 2013 at 23:52 Posted on Planning 0 4

I'm going to see a florist this week.

I'm going to have a bouquet. SO is going to have a button hole. His brother is his best man so he gets a button hole.

Our nieces (3 of them) were sad not to be bridesmaids so I thought I get them a flower or something to hold (really their treat as nonbm is that they will get their hair done). My sister is being the other witness. We also have 2 nephews.

SO suggested last night that as there are only 23 of us we just get everyone buttonholes (woman included)

Is that stupid? He thought that it would make it all seem more 'weddingy'

It is a nice thought but some might go to waste if guests have bought themselves one before hand. I know I see some guests coming with button holes on already.

Aree with DW in that most people don't expect them nowadays and a lot do go unused unless someone is at the entrance of the church/venue to physically hand them out to each and every guest. This would normally be a job for the ushers but at some weddings, the buttonholes are in a box at the entrance for people to help themselves and guests don't always like to do this as they don't realise they are meant for them unless the ushers tell them.

I think it's a lovely idea, I've been at a number of weddings where everyone was given a buttonhole (sometimes with family and wedding party getting a slightly more special one).

But you definitely need someone to hand them out or a very clear sign explaining that you want everyone to have one. Sometimes people can be very reticent.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best!

Just be careful where you put the pins ?
