Flowers - Should I do them myself???

Jennaling, 23 March, 2010 at 11:32 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi All,

Could do with some feedback on this one...maybe some of you are in the sme position?

I've recently completed my City & Guilds Level 2 Floristry. Getting married in October and am really considering doing my own flowers.

I've met with a few florists - some good, some not so good. Because I've been working with flowers I know exactly what I want & how to make them, some of the florists just don't seem to be on the same page as me. I was really pleased with one florist until I got the quote! ? Shock Horror!

I would be doing:

Bridal Bouquet, MoH Bouquet, 5 table centers, 6 buttonholes, 2 corsages.

What do you reckon?? should I?? Shouldn't I?? HELP!!

Jx

It depends on if you feel you have the time? If using fresh flowers do they have to be done on the day! I have done all my flowers but have done them in artifial flowers...what times your ceremony?

It would be fresh. Wedding is at 4pm, but the bouquets & table centers could be done the day before & left in water...

In that case i would do them myself! You have a lot of time on the day for any last minute touch ups and if your sure aboutdoing them the day before, go for it xx

    Hehe, thanks ladies.

my Mum is the one saying NOOO don't do it you have to much else to do...I kind of think I need something to keep me occupied in the morning so I don't turn into a nervous wreak by 4pm!

I'm sure if I have a few practices I could get it down to a tee.

    thanks again! x

If you are confident enough to do them and think you will have the time then go for it! It will give you a nice sense of achievement seeing them and also you'll get them exactly how you want them x

    Thanks Jules.

no, nothing wired. Bouquets are handtieds, as are the table centers - so they can all be done the day before and put in buckets.

Good idea for the buttonholes & corsages, I'm going for roses but I could get them all striped down ready for the morning.

    bring it on!

Do you have anyone who could help you? My aunt and I made 50 buttonholes, 2 corsages, 6 BM bouquets and 2 pedestals on our own, we made most of them the day before but even that was still hectic!

I say go for it, it saves a lot of money! I had my bouquet made because I wanted something a bit more special, and the table arrangements were also done by the florist as I had martini glasses. I did find that having the flowers to do helped me relax as I was so occupied, but if you so decide to do your own flowers make sure you have everything else sorted and your not dying your hair at 1.30 am on the morning of your wedding like I was ?
