Fobbed off on Amazon - help!

DreamsComeTrue2015, 8 June, 2015 at 11:11 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

I've started buying OPI Gel Color from Amazon and I've bought a couple of colours from different sellers already and not had a problem but I've ordered a colour from an old collection and I think the bottle I've bought has been used before......

When I was putting it on last night (for the first time) I noticed there was old, dried polish on the bottom of the bottle and on the rim - just under the cap. I emailed the seller and explained why I thought it had been used but she's just come back and said "I assure you that it is Brand New. This happens frequently due to the far distance of delivery" as they are based in the US........ Anyone else thinks that is rubbish? It's not like the polish has ran all over the bottle, or the bottle is damaged. There are two isolated dried blobs (for want of a better word) It didn't come in a sealed box - but then again none of the other bottles I bought from different sellers did either.

I don't want to send the bottle back but I paid £30 for this and I'm about 90% certain this bottle has been used before. If I'd bought it from a shop I'd go back but what can I do if I've bought it online? Do I just chalk it up to experience and move on? Or can I get a refund?

Hopefully with your wedding planning experience you've bought something online that's been dodgy and can help!

Hmm.. That does sound dodgy. Take pics, then see if you can contact Amazon directly, they're usually pretty good, but I don't know if they'll deal with it if you bought it from a seller rather than them directly. If they won't, get back on to the seller, don't let them fob you off.

I think if you've used it yourself now you will have a hard time proving that the dried polish isn't a result of your use. You probably should have not used it, but hindsight is always 20/20, etc. Try approaching Amazon, see what they say.

    I would contact Amazon.

You can always leave fair feedback for the seller on their page.

Amazon, in my experience, are pretty good at resolving issues like this..I'd contact them and see what they say.

I didn't noticed the polish until I'd started so I think I've probably screwed myself. Won't make that mistake again! I will contact them - didn't even know I could ask them ? I'm awful at internet shopping haha! Thanks ladies Smiley smile

This. It sounds like nonsense to me about the distance? See what Amazon say...
