Food :)

miss.understood, 6 January, 2011 at 16:53 Posted on Planning 0 41

My mission today was to get the food sorted for the wedding which is in 6 weeks time.

I have now sorted the cold buffet for the night time. I'm having a buffet for 60 people though i know there will be more than 60 there (hopefully) I didn't want anything left. This buffet is £2.50 per head so £150 which is spot on. Food will include:

Assorted open rolls (brown & white)

Cheese & Potato Squares

Corned beef squares

ham & egg squares

Assorted quiche

Cocktail sausage rolls

Cheese & onion rolls

Tuna pasta dish

Cocktail sausages

Assorted chicken drumsticks

Home-made coleslaw

Nuts

Crisps

Pickled onions

Cheese board (cheese, crackers and grapes)

Mixed chinese selection

*not bad for £2.50 a head i thought!*

For the sit down meal: this will include close family and friends (obv including best man and witness etc). 15 people maximum (2 being kids) - gorgeous venue in Morpeth Northumberland, The Waterford Lodge. On the banks of the river, and will take place in the 'Glass Room'. Crystal clear glass roof, slate floors, nice long table running down the middle of the room infront of a huge fire place which flickers with blue flames ❤️

Food:

Traditional roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings

Chocolate fudge cake

£12.95 a head for adults

£4.95 for the kids.

Total cost: £178.25

Not at all bad. Going to run the sit down meal past the MIL2B as she did say she would pay for that as our wedding gift. H2B and I have paid for everything else for the wedding ourselves. So will update with what she says.

Seems a little more real now i've sorted catering.

Have i made anyone hungry yet? lol xx

That's what I meant - I don't know what corned beef squares are either? Are they a regional thing?

PS. Food sounds good though and yes, am now starving!

    Heh @ Twickers!

It sounds northern to me! The first wedding I went to up north had lots of chicken drumsticks, tongue sandwiches and bowls of Branston-esque pickle!

Aaahh I see! I have never heard of that!

Ok, now I'm really hungry.....carbs and cheese...yummm...but no - off to the gym for me and probably something painfully healthy for dinner :-(. Why does all bad food taste soooo good?

Pastry on the top and bottom, usually shortcrust pastry, and the filling in between.... they're usually about 1 to 2 inches deep Smiley smile

The best type of bread there is!!!!! ?

And no, it's not what we call a bap or a cob or a roll. That's a bread bun. This is a stottie! It's unleavened bread. Said to be invented when a baker had too much bread and "stotted" if off the counter before putting it in the oven.

"Stott" - to chuck or through
