Food Choices

Gaz88, 10 June, 2013 at 12:55 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi

We have been looking at this country manor/ hotel and we are very close to booking it. However I did notice that it seems that it is one set meal for all guest...is this normal? what I mean by set meal is that there are a variety of meals available but which ever we chose...that is the only one we can have.

Cheers all

Some places offer choices, but it is also quite usual to just have one set meal - this has been the case at every wedding I've been to so far which has had a sit-down meal. They will also usually do a veggie option and special dishes for particular dietary requirements, but everyone else gets the same.

I had that last time I got married but I offered everyone the main (pate/beef) options, and the vegetarian options so people had a bit of a choice.

Have you asked if the venue offer an alternate drop or other option? At our tasting, we choose 2 entrees, 2 mains & 2 desserts we liked. At the table it was an alternate drop- so chicken, beef, chicken etc. Most people swapped if it was something they really didn't like.

Sounds completely normal to me, it has been one starter main and dessert for all, with alternative veggie option starter and main for named veggies.

This has been the same at the last 5 weddings I have been to but the very last one did a hot buffet and that had a few choices and was lush-o-rama!

My wedding is also one set starter, main, dessert apart from veggies or those with very specific dietary needs.

    Yep very normal!

This is why i went for the afternoon tea option. Was finding it difficult to decide on something most people would like. Hopefully sandwiches and cakes will be a winner.
