Although STP (despite being one of my fav puddings) is rather stodgy.

What time of year are you getting married? Might be better to finish with something lighter, like a nice fresh fruit tart?

were getting married at 12.30 (hopefully if the registrar lets us have that time) and will be eating around 3.30ish i guess.

I hear whatr your saying about STP BUT were are getting married in October so people might want a bit of stodge if its chilly!

An eccellent time of year to get married (I got married on 25th Oct last year)

Then STP would be perfect. Roast turkey would be fine too - it's not too close to Christmas, so people shouldn't have had their work Christmas dos by then.

ETA I had smoked fish, venison casserole & lemon & lime tart for my wedding breakfast

Beef and Sticky Toffee Pudding for me. I don't like any of the starters cos I'm really fussy so being able to have a main and dessert is good going.

Hog roast & crusty rolls. Much better than some limp sandwiches & vol au vonts! I think it's also nice to have something that you may not usually have at home IFKWIM, so a hog roast is a bit more special

My friend had bacon butties in the evening and they went down a treat. DOn't forget your veggie guests though. I think there were also fried egg sandwiches for the veggies

I had the most amazing cheese board, along with delicious crusty bread & home made paté (3 kinds). It was just the right sort of food people needed after a large meal only a few hours earlier

Mozzarella, Beef and STP for me too (tho they all sound lovely). (Also, I know quite a few people who are not fans of turkey, although then I suppose you also get people who don't/won't eat red meat).

We had STP (or Lemon Tart - it was about 50-50 as to what people chose) at our October wedding...I can answer for Spam cos we got married on the same day just down the road from each other. It was ok - pretty windy, especially in the evening (we had torches that were meant to be lit in the evening but just kept blowing out) but only drizzled a teeny tiny bit for about 10 mins at about 4pm. You can see the drizzle (and wind) in this photo:

It was a bit silly cos part of the reason we chose October was so that we wouldn't stress about the weather - not like in the summer where you plan for it to be nice and hope you can go outside, we knew it would have to be an indoors wedding. However, that didn't stop me obsessively checking the long range weather forecast every day for the 6 months preceeding the wedding!

this is why we have chosen October because then that way i wont get upset if its not nice weather, that and the fact that our venue was £1000 cheaper in October and i figured less people would be unable to attend due to holidays etc!

It does look a bit nippy - did you have a bolero or shrug or anything? Im thinking i wont bother?

Wow, got some great options to choose from. I would definately go for the roast beef as its very traditional, and as for the pud i think a bit of stodge never hurt anyone! with the starters, they are all good options and likey to appeal to most, so I would just choose my favourite!! if you and you husband to be both love bruchetta, then have that - its your day!

I only have turkey at Christmas, and then I'd much rather have beef.

Hog roast and crusty rolls for the evening.

I'm an awkward cowbag as I don't eat chocolate and hate roast dinners...

However... I'd go for Mozzerella as I LOVE cheese and the sticky toffee pud every time (and a veggie option if it was available !)

Actually I'd be happy with just a starter and dessert on that menu !

Edited to say we're actually having roast beef at our wedding (in 17 days time eek) and I'm having the veggie option)

Personally I would go for prawn cocktail but I wouldn't serve it at my wedding as I think a fair few people won't like it! Shame! So bruschetta, then beef (I don't eat meat but I always cook beef as my 'roast' dish as its the one my friends like most) then white chocolate cheesecake!

I dont really eat red meat, so would have to be the turkey for me, I love it though and the xmas assocation wouldn't put me off at all. Would also go for the prawn cocktail and the white choc cheesecake (white sounds yummy btw!) x

Just to add something... don't all hate me but.....

if everyone is having 3 course sunday dinner, then how many are going to want to have hog 4hrs later... how do you feel on christmas day after big dinner then out comes more food, especially turkey butties! And the guests will be drinking..do you want them dancing or curled up in a corner sleeping??

As for evening guests, they don't just come for the food......

Please don't label me a troll..... just wanted to put across another perspective.... ?

(for the record, we are having carvery then indian curry buffet in eveing!! Food overload or what! lol)

    xx

Prawn cocktail, lamb & chocolate cake please.

Actually all the starters are nice, don't mind turkey but it can be dry (reason we didn't have it for Xmas this year) and I like beef rare and roast is usually well done, sticky toffee pudding nice but might be a bit heavy after a roast, white choc bit too sweet for me.

HTH, comments are meant to help, not be over critical. I also asked for menu opinions and found them really helpful!
