*FOR FUN* What has Wedding Planning made you HATE?!!

2BMrsC, 8 July, 2016 at 21:20 Posted on Planning 0 12

It occurred to me this afternoon whilst beavering away at some DIY projects for our Wedding that the whole Wedding Planning process has led me to loathe and detest certain things and I thought it'd be interesting to see if anyone else has new found 'Hates'?!

I'll start....

So far.... I hate:

Hot Glue Guns

Trying to 'Prime' MDF

Internet sellers who don't know their Lavender from their Lilac!

Myself for thinking it would be 'cheaper' to make my own invites/wish tree/post box/pedestals of flowers....etc etc

Your turn... GO!

    Weddings!!!!!

    And my dress.....

Seriously, fed up with the whole thing now, and having to do it pretty much on my own. Though hopefully it's just the last few weeks added stress of trying to get everything done in an ever shortening time frame.

BMs who just will not get in touch to discuss hotels/dresses/shoes/hen do. I love them, really I do, but at the moment they're doing my nut in. I know from experience there's no point in chasing them, though - better to just have the info ready so when they come to me needing to know things now I can give it to them straight away.

Bunting!!! After making 80 metres of the stuff I now loathe it and have hidden it in a box so I don't have to look at it again for a loooooong time!!

Here here on the glue gun! - I now have a permanent scar on my thumb from those bl00dy things!

I hate that my wedding has made me realise how un-crafty I am

How laid back my BM's are (I love them to death and it's just how they are but I wish they'd be a tad more helpful at times *bridezilla face*)

Table planning and family politics.... eurghh... the less said about that the better!

My In-laws... sorry but it's true! Weddings really do show people's true colours. And theirs were not pretty when they didn't get their way. Took them almost a year to concede over their demands for the guest list and it's pretty clear they think our wedding is one big joke. Still getting snide comments about who is and isn't invited. About our choice of footwear. About the favours we've made. Less than 6 weeks to go and we can start to hear all about what we should have done instead ?

NB - We are paying for the entire thing ourselves. They offered a contribution, but we politely declined. They insisted on paying it into OH's bank account. We told them we will use it to book the Honeymoon...

    BMs that literally dont care.

Dont want to sound like I need attention but literally, I have one BM that actually gets excited that im getting married.

All the others ignore any messages I send to them and just dont seem to be bothered.

I kinda think, maybe Im being silly? But on the other hand I think, Im Getting Married?!?! Its the most exciting time in my whole life!!!! and no one else seem's to care.

Maybe Im just being a moan, but i havent asked them for anything, apart from what dresses they would like to wear and i hardly got any replies to that ?

    Rant over! hahaha! ?

My mum is driving me up the wall a little bit, if I'm honest. H2B is about ready to kill her.

I really hate paperwork. I have so much of the bloody stuff and I have to keep going through and re-reading stuff because our original Wedding Coordinator at the hotel left so the new one is trying to work out what the hell we actually have booked!

The idea of a Hen Do - my BMs are planning me a surprise Hen. I'm scared shi*tless. It's really stressing me out not to know anything and they're reassurance that "it'll be fun" isn't really helping.

That's all for now I think!

Glitter! I've been making glittery jam jars for the centrepieces and now there's glitter everywhere. I made them at one table in the spare room but it's all over the house. And somehow it keeps appearing in H2B's eyebrows!

My H2b's friends!! They think it's okay to treat our wedding as a joke and tell me that to my face! Yes you have to rsvp, no jeans and t-shirts are not appropriate you bunch of chavs!! And if I hear "yes but it's dave's wedding" once more I will likely stab one of them to death!! I should not have to tell a group of middle aged men how to dress or how to act in public! Agh!!! We're not having an ultra posh wedding but we have standards, they're just treating it like a post football drinking session!!!

    I've had this too.

My parents never ask about how the wedding is going (no joke) and I have to bring it up. My dad even asked me if he was walking me down the aisle, if he had to make a speech, who my BM was (I only have one and it's my sister!!). OH swears that they don't think we're very serious (been together 4.5 years and lived together for almost 2.5years...)

OH's parents have been the polar opposite and have helped so so much - and just generally been so encouraging and happy for us.

It's made me hate expectations/opinions/traditions that people have about weddings.

My grandma genuinely couldn't grasp the concept that we weren't having buttonholes for loads of people and just for the best man/groom (to keep costs low). She was adamant she would go out and buy them for us because she somehow had it in her head were were buying them for OH's side of the family and not mine. BLAH.

Also annoying is people giving their opinion without really thinking and generally not using their heads. I've had my sister say my dress doesn't make me look like a bride (and try force me to buy a veil), we've had a distant step relative invite her boyfriend and people complain about food choices, as if we're going to change the whole menu for them.

Odd one this, but occasionwear. After what felt like a lifetime looking at Bridesmaid dresses, my dress, helping my mum with her outfit I am done at looking at dresses, problem is we have 2 weddings, an evening reception and a Christening all in the next 4 months, and I got a little fat on the honeymoon so need a few new dresses, whoops.
