For my next challenge - shoes! Low, block heel needed- UPDATE :)

Barefoot, 17 March, 2012 at 18:44 Posted on Planning 0 13

Today is a planning day, hence loads of questions. I had wanted to ask you all about this for a while but we went to the wedding show at the NEC today and I hoped I'd find sthg.

I am looking for the impossible, I think. Shoes that are low heel (2 inches or less), with a block heel not thin or kitten or stiletto. I have no balance in heels as it is, and want to be able to dance. Or at least walk. They also need to be fairly wide fitting, and suitable for wearing again after the reception, so blush pink, baby blue, or crystally. Oh, and not strappy sandals, and not dyable since I don't have time to sort that out.

I've looked at Elegant Steps, in BHS, Debenhams, Next and found nothing yet that won't hurt my feet long term. I have seen some for child bridesmaids that would be great, but they don't do them in my size.

Alternatively, something like crystal trainers maybe? Or boots? Sparkly low cowboy boots would be good and have the right heel, but I can't find any that aren't just stark white. I have found sequinned trainers but they were cheap and looked cheap too.

Any ideas?

Sorry for all the separate comments, I've found a few pairs with low wide heels, I just googled 'wide fitting low heel wedding shoes' and most of the online shops have something like what you're looking for. Good luck!

    What about something like this:

These are a pair of my shoes (not wedding ones), they are peep toes in a nude colour. They were from office last year and I got them for a graduation. I've only worn them once actually! I'm sure they came in a cream too. If you don't like the heel you could crystallise them.

Is that the sort of thing you're after? I love shoes, I'll keep an eye out!

Or you could get some satin flats? They're all over the place at the moment, in all the colours of the rainbow

Duckybum - love the wedges - where are they from? MrsH - got mine from an Indian company for about 35.00 - you need to measure your foot so am hoping they'll be a perfect fit - they arrived at mums ages ago but not back in the UK for another couple of weeks. let me just find the link....... http://www.punjabfootwear.com/

Sorry for derailing but theres someone on the honeymoon/destinations looking for good Zanzibar tour operator and couldn't remember who you booked with.

Willumino - the last ones you posted may be OK. And 2bMrsB, the second may be fine too. I don't want completely flat since I tried on some flats in Debenhams and didn't feel right. I usually live in boots unless it's summer, and am used to a 1 inch heel. Little cowboy style boots would be perfect, but I suppose not very elegant!

I also saw these which I may consider for the ceilidh if for nothing else!

And I like the converse for the same reason. Hmm decisions decisions!

Katscamel - I'll have a look at that site too. I don't need shoes for Zanzibar, I will go barefoot or wear my crystal flip flops, it's all for the UK thing. And I'll check out that other thread too while I'm here Smiley smile

Well it seems I have had a revelation Smiley smile

Not only can I walk in these, but they were comfortable!!

However, practicality an common sense took over (dancing may still have been a bit hard, since I'm having a ceilidh, and since the dress is being cut for me to be barefoot, these are a little high) so I have got these instead. £45, worn once, from ebay!

I know I have some shoe twins! From a girl who lives either barefoot in summer or in boots in winter, this is a revelation. I honestly didn't even know my shoe size, I buy footwear so rarely. I am hooked though, and have found at least 3 other pairs of IC shoes I would like. Not that I ever go anywhere to wear nice things though. Still, one day.. Smiley smile

I love both of the ones you've flashed Ducky. Might have a look on ebay for the office ones. Where are the others from?

Thanks Smiley winking As I said, I have had no idea about shoes - I don't buy or wear them because I have wide feet (from living barefoot since I was a child - I can only really wear sandals, trainers and boots) and shoes hurt or don't fit. All I knew from looking at the wedding shows and in shops was that I don't like white satin! I hate white satin dresses so white satin shoes are never going to be me! SO happy I have sthg, and because these are silver, they are very re-wearable.
