For those of you who've had an engagement/pre-wedding shoot...............

Blondie28, 5 August, 2013 at 13:20 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi All

I'm just wondering what you wore for your engagement/pre-wedding shoot? Did you just keep it natural (i don't mean naked LOL but did you wear what is everyday typical for you) or did you get dressed up a bit?

We're thinking of using one of the shots at the wedding. We're going to mount it with a thick ivory border and get people to sign it in place of a guest book. Then we can hang it in the house afterwards.

I don't know which way would look better.

Thanks!

We always advise our couples to wear something they feel comfortable in and is suitable for the location of the shoot. Bold colours are fine but I would advise avoiding anything with too much of a pattern. And there's no need for you and your other half to match exactly but co-ordinated outfits e.g. similar colours or styles of outfit would be best. Great idea to use one of the pictures and have a signing frame!

We haven't done this personally as we're not at that stage of planning but our friends got married a week ago and they did what you suggested, i.e. had a photo from their shoot for us all the sign the border. They wore casual jeans and t-shirts and the photos were taken outdoors and also featured their dog which was a cute touch. I'd say wear whatever you are comfortable in and whatever is 'normal' for you. Just one pointer re the photo you choose to get signed - make sure you allow plenty of room in the border for people to sign! By the time it got to us there was very little space left (you can't guarantee all guests will think of others and limit their words!). Their photo had a lot of background which in my opinion could possibly have been cropped out to allow an even wider border.

I had my engagement/pre-wedding shoot back in March and really enjoyed the experience.

On the day itself it was so cold that neither myself or my OH could take our coats off. We'd both made a bit more of an effort than usual with our hair (for the OH that means actually doing anything at all with it!), and I wore my make up slightly heavier than I would on a usual day. The photos came out beautifully - they looked really natural and reflected us as a couple well.

I wouldn't worry too much about the outfits - I was initially concerned that our photos would look a bit naff as we were all wrapped up in our coats, but actually it just added to the charm of the pictures.

We had ours back in May. It was really nice. We went to a local park with our dog. There was quite a variety of back drops which was good and it was really sunny. We went casual but made a bit more effort than usual. What we wore sort of coordinated but that was just a happy coincidence. Now we've got some lovely prints up at home which is nice Smiley smile
