For those with kiddies, are you taking them on your honeymoon?

mummy2hannah, 24 July, 2011 at 11:02 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hey ladies,

Well we finally get married in just under 2 weeks, yippee! and it's looking that we'll have a spare few pound over to go away for a couple of nights, which we didn't think we would! Double yippee!! I've been looking at going to Berwick for a quiet getaway for the Tuesday - Thursday. 20 week scan's on the Tuesday, that's why we can't go til atleast then.

We have a 2 year old DD, and just wondering wyo's about bringing a toddler on your honeymoon? One part of me is being *mumsy* and doesn't want to leave her, the other part is thinking a honeymoon is a newlyweds thing!

I hope this has made sense, it's taken aaaages to write as I am so, so, sooo tired lol xx

We will be taking our daughter (who will be 4 when we get married) and are looking at a week abroad somewhere. I couldn't leave the country with her not being with one of us (she gets ill easily as she was born way too early so would be worrying about her). I also wouldn't want her to miss a holiday.

If it was just a couple of nights in the UK however I would consider it.

My son is 7 and we have decided to go on honeymoon to Vegas and he will stay with my mum. The way we looked at it, it will prob be the last time we get to have 2 weeks just to ourselves!!!

My son isn't coming with us but he's 8, at 2 i would have felt exactly the same as you. but you deserve newlywed time, so i would say go alone as it’s only a few days.

We have booked a quiet beach apartment in kefelonia and selfishly want one week with no interruptions ?....so I'm planning to take to my son to Disneyland the year after to make it up to him.

We won't be taking our son with us (he'll be nearly 12 then) and would probably stay with one of our parents

No chance! My little man will be 18 months when we get married & he is a very full on, demanding little boy. He will have a far better time staying with his Nanna & Grandad who will spoil him rotten than being dragged off to a hot country which he probably wouldn't settle in without all his toys etc he has at home. We have already had a week away with him earlier this year in Cornwall which was our family holiday. Our honeymoon will about OH & I getting some precious quality time as we don't get alot of it at the moment!

My daughter will be there for the first week when the wedding haPpens and then mum will take her home to allow us to have our honeymoon the 2nd week

We're getting married abroad so have no choice! Got a 14, 10 and 11 month old coming along but plenty of help out there if we need a night away. I couldn't leave them for more than 5 nights and would end up staring at the other children (pining for mine) at the hotel and looking a bit suspect! x

We are going away for the weekend straight after the wedding (get married on a Thursday) . The kids are staying with granny. I could not leave my three year old for longer than that as he is not very used to staying away. I am really looking forward to some couple time.

We went away for 5 days straight after the wedding and didnt take our daughter. We had our belated honeymoon seven months after the wedding and didnt take her then either.

I guess that makes me an extremely bad mother!

We're leaving my son with his dad for the first week, then he'll go to my mum's for the second week so he can get back to school. At 13 he's old enough to understand. Besides, he'd get bored and turn into a whinge monster.

His dad was supposed to be taking him away on holiday - but has backtracked saying it's too expensive (stingy old ***). So we're trying to book a night in London to see a show and a posh hotel so he can have a mini-holiday with us instead.

I'd say with little kids you can take a night or two for just you and hubby, but if you want to take them if you're going away then go for it.

Sorry I couldn't get back on yesterday.

Thank you ladies for your advice! I think we'll leave her with her grandparents! She's there most days anyway as they only live around the corner, so I know she's very comfortable there and also gets away with blue murder lol.

Justifying it by telling myself I'm only down the road for a couple of nights, not abroad for a fortnight lol...and yeah, it is our last chance to go away just the 2 of us!!

I've found a lush little guesthouse and gonna take full advantage of the massage facilities there Smiley laugh

No need to justify it hun - its your honeymoon! Even if you were going abroad for 2 weeks and leaving her with grandparents, you still wouldn't need to justify it! We are going for a week to portugal and OH's parents are having our 23 month old and 4.5 year old boys. It never even entered our heads to take them with us - Its the one and only chance we are going to get to have a holiday to ourselves for about the next 16 years so we are making the most of it LOL!
