Forget wedding dress envy.. I have SNOW envy!!

Lauren25, 29 November, 2010 at 09:29 Posted on Planning 0 40

I always wonder why I live in the boring parts of the world.. No exciting weather for us here in Kent! I just really want an excuse to not go out and stay at home snuggling up to my little boy with the central heating on full blast!?..

ANyone else want snow as much as me!???

    Me I love it!

It is snowy outside but just a light covering, still trying out there this morning & freezing. Just saw online we are looking at 2 weeks of sub zero temps down as low as -20 later in theweek & could have a bad winter forecast snow right through to January.

Definitely - although my b2b isn't so impressed with it.

We had a token "few flakes blowing in the wind" about 9.30pm last night but it didn't settle and so far it's been cold and nothing else. Why should the Northerners get all the fun and days off?

I've been watching the satellite weather and it's all been going down the North Sea and along the Channel - completely avoiding the land bizarrely.

The last time we had serious snow it took me 4 hours to get home 7 miles on a bus. Someone started a singalong on the bus and it was quite surreal in all honesty.

Ok normally i do snow dances for snow but we are supposed to be going to PIL2b static caravan - which thank god has central heating on the 8th, but if the weather is this rubbish we will be having to stay at home as MX5s are not practical and seems to prefer to turn into a rather large sledge in the snow!

Which bit of Kent? Send it up the Thames to London please... BBC reckons it might start about 9pm tonight and just keep going for a bit, but I'd rather have some before.

Cloud seems to be heading south-east from here though.

We are snowed in. We have about a foot and a half on the patched which have not been used, my poor little mini did not have a hope! I could not even open my front door this morning, it took two of us! The dog is loving it, but OH can work from home and I'm a supply teacher so if I'm not at work I dont get paid Smiley sad

And it's snowing again, at this rate I miht actually lose my car

Normally I love the snow, and I am still sort of enjoying it, but it is causing me a lot of problems at the moment. It started snowing here last Wednesday and hasn't stopped since! It took me an hour and a half to get home on Wed (it had been a 15-min drive getting there that morning), then since then my car has been buried on the drive. The buses are still just about running although not as frequently as normal. It is costing me £7.20 every day to get public transport to work as I have to get a bus and then the metro!

I have just got home after being sent home from work by our senior management team, I was supposed to be running an Inset day for teachers but had to cancel it after hardly anyone made it. On Friday I am supposed to be running a conference which I have taken 60 bookings for and worked really hard to pull together but I don't know if it will happen now [:'(]

By the way if you have seen the footage from Newcastle on the news, I live right between the airport and the racecourse, both of which I've seen on the tv over the last few days! So that should give you an idea of our snow levels - it is currently reaching the tops of my wellies!

Here are some pics from Friday, we have a lot more than this now:

It is now up to the top of the wheels of the car!

Tina I know how you feel, I was actually too scared to get the bus into work as last night (coming from Tynemouth) the bus skidded and that freaked me out. My car, likes yours, has been on the street since Wednesday, as I am on a hill and cannot turn it around! I normally cycle to work and that's definitely not going to happen! Luckily I can work from home and the kids seem to be enjoying it.

We awake in South London with a somewhat unimpressive covering of snow, with more forecast for the rest of the day.

Not sure it's going to amount to a great deal though, sadly. A pity as I fancied a few days off.
