Wondering If I've missed anyone out for the formal photo shoot. My list is:

B+G entire party

B+G whole family

Bride bridesmaids

Groom groomsmen

Bride + Mum / Dad / siblings

Groom + Mum / Dad /siblings

Everyone

also, is there a way of making these as unstuffy as possible (thou I might be fighting the tide with the guests/family and years or 'say cheese' training) Its just i do 'Chandelier face' when it comes to formals and i tend to hate those types of photos.

From what I understand it's a crown document and shouldn't be photographed.

There's lots of two's and fro's about it. In fact it's a source of heated debate for some but tbh, I don't want to take photos of it, just the actual signing which I do at ground level, often from a distance.

Vicar's seem to care less about the rules than a registrar.

Ironically they give the couple this crown document afterwards anyway.

There are 2 relevant Act of Parliament which cover this subject. The part which cannot be photographed is the detail within the register, as this is often 2 marriages to a page and with 2 sides can show 3 other wedding details. As said, it is this detail that cannot be photographed or recorded. It is NOT illegal to photograph the book from a distance where the detail cannot be seen.(Despite what some ministers and registrars would have you believe)

Peter and Chris are spot on (as always) and apart from the issue that you may be copying the registrar, it is after all a legal document written in million year ink? and the last thing the registrar wants is some idiot photographer chimping around stuffing the lens down at your pen and firing a flash in your face. So normally its a blank NO- but all the local registrars know me and most reverends too and so they know I don't go over the top, I have even photographed a registrars wedding, so I can get some shots from afar without flash. But most of the time that is why you will of seen a "posed" shot with a blank register and a dummy pen because you are not supposed to shoot the actual one.

I doubt you're guests will enjoy it much either, as usually they want them done and dusted in good time.

Should be plenty of time for a small list. I do around 9 group shots at my weddings. These are usually done in 15 minutes or so.

There's two things that get me at weddings. When everyone is called up to take photos of the couple by the register and for the cake cutting by the DJ.

The legacy of the old film days.

'Ok everyone get your cameras ready so you can stuff up the professional shots'. Gah, make it stop ?

Elixia, doesn't your tog include pre-wedding shoots with your package? I highly recommend them! I also had issues with posed pics until out tog took us to ours. I was very frozen for the first few shots, but by the end of he session I was feeling like Gisele Bunchen Smiley smile He was so friendly and funny and put us at easy by instructing us how to pose to look our best I was totally comfortable with the whole experience.

And I am sure it was a great way to get to know him better, and on the wedding I won't be the little bit fussed about posing again.

Have a chat and see what you can get.

    Best of luck!

    xx

One way to do these types of photography is to create "environments"......this is where the rough photo is set up and then allowed to become natural. Simple technique when done properly although works well. The couple almost forget that the photographer is there and expressions and body posture relax and become more natural....

Oh that's a shame! Sorry to hear about that. But if I say after a few clics you will be fine with it, would you take my word for it? ?

I actually had some traumatic experiences with posed pics when I was a child and was dreading the pre-wedding shoot, so I kinda know how you feel! and it was fine, really, really! Smiley laugh
