Foundation help getting urgent!

Scottish_Sarah, 17 May, 2015 at 22:12 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hey Ladies

So for the last 6 weeks I have been trying to improve my skin for foundations for the big day (in less then 6 weeks time). My friend is doing my makeup on the day.

I went makeup shopping at the weekend which was painful in more ways then one - so I was going down the bourjois route due to no spf etc - did a test and 10 minutes later was rushing to get it washed off with face starting to inflame. Same reaction with chanel and dior testers.

I have very sensitive skin and I am struggling to find something which I can use - clinique fared a little better - managed to keep it on for a while but it didn't sit right and within 2 hours was patchy and again my skin had gone red.

I didn't react to the lancome one but it has an spf in it which I am worried about using as I know the SPF can cause flashback.

Is there any recommended foundations which are spf free and suitable for sensitive skin? I can't have anything which is perfumed - these tend to be the worse reactions. Or can I use the spf lancome one?

TBH if I find something which is good, lasts and I don't react to I don't mind the cost - one of the reasons I don't wear makeup in the 1st place is because of how sensitive my skin is.

Help!!!!!!!

What about Dermablend? The lightest shade was a bit too dark for me but the coverage was good. Nars? I think they're all perfumed to some extent, it's just a case of figuring out which ingredients are making you react. If you're struggling but have a good pro tog I say wear your lancome one, they will be able to use the lighting in such a way that you won't get flashback.

I'm allergic to stuff on my face too. I come out in big red patches. I've had my make trial and they used urban decay foundation. It's worth going to your local counter and asking for a tester of it. Explain your trying to find something that wont give you a reaction so you want to try it at home rather than them putting it on you.

Have you tried Liz Earle? One of my friends has really sensitive skin and she swears by it. Speak to your photographer about flashback - I wore Clinique on my wedding day, which has SPF in. I didn't think about it until I saw something on here and panicked so spoke to my photographer who said not to worry. She said any flash that she used wouldn't be right in my face so it wouldn't be an issue - she was right, there is no flashback in any of our pictures, or any pictures taken by guests.

Try to speak to your photographer about the SPF thing? I would say it's probably better to go with something you already know and use rather than try something new. I've got sensitive skin and sometimes it takes while for me to start to react. You might be ok for a few hours but it would be pretty rubbish if you had to remove your foundation half way through the day.

I don't know if mine had SPF in it to be honest... I guess it did as i didn't know this was an issue at all. Our photographer wasn't amazing but there are no photos of me or any of my guests with flash back.

You could try asking someone in Boots or House of Fraser etc about bare minerals. I'm not sure if it has SPF in it but it is meant to be very lightweight on the skin with natural minerals (apparently!!) so in theory should be better for the skin if it has more natural products in it.

Bare Minerals do have SPF, but might be worth a try anyway. Also ask your photographer if it would be a problem if it does have SPF.

I know on Hitched everyone advises not to have SPF in foundation, but I mentioned it to our photographer and she said, she's been asked about it before but never had any problems with it. She mainly works with natural light.

I'm not sure about foundations but my MUA used my own moisturiser (boots sensitive face stuff) because I got a bit spotty with whatever she used. It has SPF in it and I had no problems with flashback. I would definitely say use the lancome if it's the only one you don't have a reaction to. Better that one or 2 of your photos have a little flashback than you're uncomfortable or red and blotchy!

Moisturizer with spf is unlikely to cause flashback cos you've covered it up with makeup. Unless of course you don't wear any! Bare minerals is full of titanium dioxide so that would be potentially worse than sticking with the lancome.

I have terribly sensitive skin (eczema, rosacea). The only thing I can wear without reaction is Bare Minerals. It really is magical stuff!

Thanks ladies will check them out and if all else fails will go to lancome.

Not sure what it is I can't have but to give you an idea my hands go red and inflammed from washing up liquid!
