Foundation primer

MarieMarie1980, 3 May, 2010 at 19:59 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi Ladies,

After discussions with my Mum and BM's, we have decided to do make up ourselves. I am looking for a primer to wear under my foundation so that it lasts all day. The foundation I have is clinique so it already lasts pretty well, but looking for something to make it last a couple more hours. Any recommendations for a good primer?

TIA

Mx

I use MAC after my make up artist used it in my trial. It's changed my make up life! ?

    Hiya Marie,

I totally agree with TrixyLou...I really feel Smashbox is fabulous! It gives a lovely finish to the makeup, making it look very polished and enables it to last for a long time. I personally have used it on nearly all the brides for whom I have done makeup...?

    Hope this help,

    take care x

Thanks for the replies ladies. I had been looking at smashbox but never heard of it - it seemed to be a QVC product but I see that debenhams have it as well.... Its good to have recommendations from fellow hitchers!!

Thanks for your help - smashbox it is!!

OMG - Laura Mercier Primer. The best invention in the world! Go to any Space NK place and they'll try it out on you (Selfridges etc will also do it). Will keep your make up in place for ages! It's pricey but you don't need much.

It's my best ever make up purchase.

I couldn't get on with Smashbox at all! For me it has to be Clarins Beauty Flash balm. I'm not sure what it actually does - but everytime I wear it someone tells me I look nice LOL

    Hi Marie,

It really depends on your skin type as you need to use different primer for different skin types just like you do foundations.

What's your skin type? Dry, oil, combination?

Another vote for Clarins beauty flash balm!! I have very dry skin though. I also love Laura Mercier skin primer. Smashbox is excellent but I find it more suitable for less dry skin.

I have used benefit's dr feel good which seem's to work quite well but im allways on the lookout for something that works just that little bit better, my main problem at the moment is 'hormone' skin! grrrrrrrrrrrr, i always end up getting breakouts about a week prior to my 'P' which stick around for the duration and a few days after but last time didnt clear up at all and im now into the next lot, iam also on oxytetracycline to help my skin, which normally does the trick but like i say this time its been awfull and im petrified now that im going to look disgusting on the wedding day! Smiley sad
