Foundation - what shade?

allthatglitters, 19 February, 2009 at 15:03 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

How do you know whats your right colour? Mine has run out and i think it's to light anyway. I was told to dab the tester on the back of my hand, but the back of my hand is a different colour to my face !

I only have access to a Boots as I need it for tomorrow night and i can't get anywherewith more choice tonight.

You need to go to MAC. Sorry. Boots will not do. ?

Wipe off a patch of makeup on your jaw, pop on a bit of the tester and then go outside and have a look in natural light. You'll then see if it blends into your skin colour on your neck or not.

It's not as good as trying it on 'properly' (as in going to a MAC counter and getting them to match it to you and having a full face applied) but if you can only get to Boots, this should get you a fairly decent match.

The only MAC near me is in selfridges in Bum and I can't get there! I haven't got time to get anywhere <sob>

Im going right from work so won't have any make up on anyway, and taking H with me who will look blankly at me. oh bugger, I think this will be a disaster! ?

Don't let anyone who doesn't wear makeup (I'm presuming here that your H doesn't ? ) tell you if it's a good match or not. Yes, indeed, disaster looms ?

How do you find out where your nearest Mac is? I'm using Max Factor foundation at the moment and it's too light.

Www.maccosmetics. co.uk - you can check out stockists and shops there.

The boots I can get to has a perfume/make up counter and a big No7 stand, there is usually a girl hanging about so I will ask her to help me!

? I will go to MAC next time I'm in town. My best friend uses the Dior aerosol stuff and swears by it (and she always looks ace), i might try that to?

Definitely another recommendation for MAC when you have the chance to get there. I've always used No7, due to the fact that I was a skint student for several years. I went to MAC at Heathrow last night and they have matched the tone exactly to my skin and has made me realise that my No7 foundation (the lightest they do) is too dark for my skin. They have so many shades that I've managed to get a perfect one and considering my colouring is whiter than white, it is usually a difficult thing to do.
