Fragrant flowers

Purple Pixie, 17 May, 2012 at 10:15 Posted on Planning 0 7

Our wedding breakfast is being held in a marquee and I would love our guests to be greeted with a beautiful scent as they walk in. I'm having calla lilies and roses in my bouquet and I've said that I'd like the centrepieces to include those flowers but be packed out with other raspberry pink flowers.

Are there any specific flowers I could ask for that have a beautiful scent (and are raspberry pink)?

Thanks, PP x

Sweet peas have a really lovely smell and you can get them in a raspberry pink colour.

The only other one with raspberry colouring in it that I can think of that have a fragrance would be Stargazer lilies but if you're thinking of having callas, then normally it would be either one or the other - personally I wouldn't put both in one vase as they would fight for attention Smiley winking

My Aunt always has the most beautiful flower arrangements in her house and they always smell fab. I asked her if she would do the flowers for my wedding so that I could wow my guests with the sight and smell of them. She laughted and took me to one of the hugh arrangments. In the middle was a liquid air freshener. I was surprised but she fooled me for almost 20 years so I guess it will do the same for my guests.

What time of the year is your wedding? The most fragrant flowers are available in spring/early summer sweet pea/stocks/paeonies are the most highly scented with freesia and some lilies being available all year round, although some freesia are not very fragrant. I think the liquid air freshener idea is excellent ! x
