    Hi.

I seem to have offended unintentionally so. I am happy, if paid to take on any assignments but for my portfolio building work and free work I am looking to get the highest of quality images. All photographers will only put the best images in portfolios, this means the most beautiful churches, receptions, reception settings. Im not looking for a fairytale wedding but one where the surroundings compliment the images. It's all these elements that make the image stand out.

I hope you understand I didn't mean to offend but rather clumsily tried to say if I am taking on free work I have to have certain requirements for this to be benificial. I hope someone can help me out and I can help them out...

The thing is you are being really nice offering 'free photography' but dont forget brides are taking a chance considering you are building up your reputation.

I think the way you are wording things makes those of us who think we have lovely stunning venues but not in your eyes feel a bit rubbish to be honest.

I dont normally reply to these type post but it irritated me.

    just my POV

Firstly, free or not free photography, it is against the rules of the forum to post your website address without being asked first and also without being a registered business on the forum directory. Email address if you must but website address isn't allowed I'm afraid.

Secondly, if you wish to photograph a wedding in the next two months, you may find this difficult as most Brides will have booked their photographer long before leaving it this late I would imagine!

I have to agree with KJ82 a wedding is special to every couple no matter what the surrounding or venue. if you want to be picky hire a model...

portfolio isnt built because it is at a fantastic venue its built up on really nice images from any situation, whether it is a church or civil ceremony - rugby club or 5* hotel, a professional can make best use of any surroundings.

    - plus if someone was to book an expensive venue more than likely they will have a large budget and book the most expensive photographer they could afford not someone offering it for free.

If people wish to look at this negatively, Im afraid I can do nothing about that as it was never meant that way.

If anyone is getting married in a traditional church and is hiring a traditional location for the reception wishing for reportage style images and want either a main photographer or another photographer to capture even more images on top, please get in touch. You can have a look at my current gallery online.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone but I feel for this to be successful for me, I am being selective in how I offer this free service & despite what you think Im an alright kinda guy....

    That's all folks.

I am a second shooter occasionally, and it's not just these kind of venues that make the best portfolio shots - the best shots are where the couple are relaxed with the photographer and their style, NOT just the supposedly 'perfect' venues. You can make pictures out of nothing if you're a good photographer - one venue we went to had no real photo locations other than a crumbling red brick wall, and it actually provided some of the best pics!

Please don't discount people with 'other' venues - as mentioned about, the people willing to take the risk of FREE photographers in the next couple of months will be on lower budgets and cannot afford the type of venues you are talking about! You would have faired better on here if you had disclosed this when people had emailed you to enquire rather than giving negative first impressions!

    Good luck though!

In my brutally honest opinion, a truly talented photographer is one who doesn't need to rely on the background in order to produce a 'high quality image'. Your portfolio would benefit from demonstrating that you can make the most of every type of location.

I agree & I will shoot all types of weddings and locations when paid. I am just trying to make it right for me by getting all the elements together that I am looking for, that's all.

I don't seem to have offended all people as I have had a good response, my intentions were not to offend. If I had read the same post, I may have thought cheeky git, but I would have talked to my partner and realised that person was well within his/her rights and has a point, since he is offering a free service and wants to make it right for him/her.

I don't see the need to disparage my abilities intentionally or not just because I have asked for a specific thing.

Well whatever you think is the right/wrong approach, I'm sure all the suppliers on here are well chuffed to hear you've had a "good response" so well done on your free advertising.

Its against forum rules Mr ...

Whoooops that first post could have been worded a tiny bit better. Best of luck to you, hope someone has splashed out enough money for you to get good shots lol.

Yes. I am terrible with wording and usually say things as they are, my partner also rolls her eyes at me...

I have recently come across a lady who's daughter is getting married and they have had several problems. It's not a huge wedding but she is very grateful that I have also offered to do the photography for free. So....Im not that much of a monster after all...

How many more times does it need to be said (as you seem to have ignored others saying this):

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ADVERTISE ON THIS FORUM UNLESS YOU PAY THE FEE!

For someone who is trying to get business, whether it be free or otherwise, your attitude isn't the best and I've reported this thread for advertising now because you are just annoying me now. I suggest other people report this thread as well.

    Already have Lyns

And agree - naughty advertising aside, the whole approach sucks tbh - hardly the way to endear yourself to your public, specially as sooo many more people than just registered hitchers view this site.

I'd not use him just cos I think his customer service approach is fairly awful.

I don't think I have an attitude. I am offering something free and unfortunately SOME people have taken offence because I am looking for a certain type of traditional wedding to capture. What is wrong with that. Granted my original wording wasn't the best but I meant nothing by it.

If people didn't keep bashing me.I would have left this post die 2 days ago and you would have heard no more from me...It's not me keeping it alive.
