Freezing Stock Q

CarlaM, 10 February, 2009 at 12:46 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

Does anybody know, if I make homemade stockthen freeze it in batches, whether I can defrost this stock, make a meal with it, then freeze it again as part of that meal?

SOrry for the odd Q!

AFAIK as long as it comes to the boil each time you can freeze, reheat and refreeze stock as often as you like. It would just become slightly more concentrated each time.

Thanks for that. Always make too much food and want to freeze the leftovers for the baby but didn't know if I could if the stock had already been frozen once.

    Thanks.

I do often and have never given it a thought, tbh. But it's a good question... I would say it's fine as long as when you're cooking it through each time you make sure it's properly piping hot.
