gaaawd i'm bored! anyone else?

irrelephant, 5 November, 2009 at 15:13 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hola ladies. A horrible rainy guy fawkes day here in lincoln. i'm also incredibly bored. i came home for a sleep because i have a migraine but ended up cleaning the kitchen because one of my housemates left the sink in a disgusting state. i havent eaten at home since monday so thats the last time i did my washing up. Since then one of them has poured what looks like cheese sauce and half an onion into the sink. When i got in i went to make a drink and i can only describe it as looking and smelling like sick! ? so i had to clean it out and bleach it all and now im waiting for the drain unblocker to work. it is just grim!

My housemates are probably all going to a bonfire tonight too, with fireworks. Wish i wasn't scared to death of fireworks. Feeling a bit left out!

What are we all up to tonight? anyone staying in and fancy keeping me company?

anyone got any ideas for a bit of fun?

i think i might just end up doing uni work ☹️ but i also might have a look at some christmassy wedding themes on the internet and maybe some holidays too just to cheer myself up!

DWC

Yep I'm bored and also trying to avoid starting a hideous task at work involving endless spreadsheets and number crunching, most of which I don't understand, gah.

you are scared of fireworks, are you related to my dog? She goes mental when they go off, barks her head off. They started at Diwali and have been going non-stop since. We are taking her to a dogfriendly pub tonight as she can't hear them so much in there will all the music, chatter etc, but if she starts barking we'll have to leave.

    Hope migraine gets better.

Are you getting married at Christmas, sounds lovely. I made our centrepieces had white willow twig lights (powered by batteries), they might be nice for a Christmas wedding. I did them in a vase with peacock feathers and lined the vase with organza.

I'll join you on the bored bench! Work's really slow today and I just want to go home - feeling really drained today. I'm so glad it's Friday tomorrow.

Probably won't be doing anything tonight other than the usual; cook dinner, wash up, have a bath, watch a bit of telly then bed. Fun huh?

Having said that, I might order the dressing table I've been eyeing up for the bedroom. Nothing like spending a bit of money to make me feel better lol.

Thirteentreasures: i am absolutely terrified of fireworks. My mum got hit in the eye by one when i was 12 at a small party we went to. she was stood at a safe distance but it exploded outwards and part of it hit my mum in the face and burnt me and two other kids. Luckily mum wasn't permanently damaged but it terrified me! i can't cope with them now at all! last year our neighbours set them off in their backgarden and i was trying to cut some potatoes at the time. i just froze and started shaking and my friends had to take the knife off me and sit me down on the floor! i was that scared. i can't cope with being outside if there are fireworks going off nearby either. My ex once left me standing in the street having a panic attack on new years eve when part of a firework landed on the pavement about a foot in front of me. He said i was being ridiculous. Luckily we were only across the road from his house and his mum came out and got me. Never forgave him for that. He dumped me two weeks later anyway. Idiot.

As for getting married at christmas, we did have plans for 4th august 2012 but they are on hold at the moment. I've always loved the idea of a christmas wedding but we've not made any solid plans yet so it might change and we might go for christmas time instead. We both love christmas too.

December, sounds like my boring night too. I'm going to make sausage and mash have some sprouts too.

This page is being so slow at the moment. In the time it took the reply box to load i have been to the shop and back! (which admittedly is a two minute walk away but still!)

Yes, shoes for the wedding which I'm hoping my mum is going to reimburse me for seeing as these are the 2 bridesmaids she insisted I have!! (I wanted 2, ended up with 4...) Should be fun though and at least it's all inside so won't be cold or wet!!! The centre is actually open late every Thursday, all year so it's quite good for avoiding the weekends ?

Must be awful being so scared of fireworks, especially at this time of year. Have you thought about hypnotherapy, I've heard it's quite good for phobias. Just thought it might make life easier?

All that talk of sausage and mash is making me hungry!

That was really awful of your ex to leave you in the street like that. Better off without someone like that!

What a total w*nker!! you have a really good reason to be frightened but even if it was just some unexplained phobia it doesn't mean you're being ridiculous. I'm scared of butterflies! and i don't know why. I used to quite like fireworks but now they just p*ss me off. Ok, have them for Guy Fawkes or New Year, but every flipping night for 2 months? grrrr. Often they go off really late at night, or sometimes even in the afternoon when it's still light. and loads of kids round our way get them and set them off in public areas, and throw them around, really dangerous. I would ban private sale of them and only allow them at big, controlled displays.

It can be hell at this time of year. tends to mean i don't really leave the house after dark. My housemate wanted to go to the shop last night at about 9pm but i could hear fireworks going off and i flat out refused to even consider it. I've thought about getting some sort of therapy for it but wouldnt know where to go and probably couldnt afford it anyway.

Its a shame really because i used to love bonfire night as a kid! and i still think fireworks are really pretty now, its just the noise and close proximity terrify me to the point of panicking and terrors.

thirteentreasures, you have no idea why you're scared of butterflies? do you think its the way they flutter? my housemate is scared of birds incase they fly up in his face.

Yep the fluttering is part of it, though i don't mind birds and bats too much. i hate moths even more than butterflies and generally don't like insects. I don't understand why people like butterflies, they are bugs! if they didn't have prettily coloured wings you wouldn't be impressed, they are just moths with pretensions! apart from the general cruelty and tackiness I can't think of anything worse than a butterfly release at a wedding, I'd probably have a heart attack!

Anyway, we all have our things if we're honest. therapy, the emotional freedom technique might help you, i use it for things like dental phobia. I was taught it by a hypnotist, you tap pressure points in a particular order, hard to explain, maybe google it. otherwise maybe CBT (cognitave behavioural therapy)?

I think butterflies are really pretty. i really like ladybirds too! i got upset the other week because there were loads on the path and people had been standing on them. i managed to rescue three though. mr delicious made me go home in the end.

the thing is i'm scared of a few things, quite irrationally, i suspect i'd be in therapy forever! i've had CBT before and really don't think it would do anything for me. Maybe when i have more time and money i might look into hypnotherapy though.

Fireworks are going off just three doors down now so i've got friends on really really loud!

I was taught the emotional freedom technique in one session so you don't have to spend a lot, it's like a self-hypnosis thing. i did have a few more sessions of hypnotherapy where she put me under. it was enjoyable and relaxing but didn't actually help that much longer term. but the emotional freedom thing did. i saw it on tv first.

quite like ladybirds and they eat greenfly which is great, but i don't want one on me and i don't like it when they take off. i quite like the look of dragonflies but they are huge in real life so a bit scary, damsel fllies are better. don't know why i hate butterflies so much.

anyway, hope your evening's not too horrible. keep that tv on loud!

Aw hun ?. Phone your mum up for a lovely chat? or what about your OH, can you talk to him?

Have to go now to calm the frenzied dog. I've stayed at work late trying to do some really horrible spreadsheets that just won't balance, would you like to do those instead?? you see, the fireworks seem less horrible in comparison now don't they?!

If you are feeling really sh*t phone the Samaritans. they are not just for suicidal people, honestly. my sister volunteers with them and they are totally happy to talk about anything even if it seems silly to you. And anyway you don't need to feel silly about phoning them, you've got a genuine, serious phobia for a very genuine reason. you can also email them though it takes a bit longer for them to reply http://www.samaritans.org/

    Anyway take care. ?
