Gah! Last minute number issues

Spring Bride 85, 5 April, 2015 at 09:56 Posted on Planning 0 5

So we had to give final numbers to caterers this week. We did that, had the confirmation e-mail and 2 days later, 2 of our guests have pulled out. Had the invoice now categorically stating we cannot change the numbers (which we knew). Not their fault for not coming as the guy is having an op 5 days before and only got the date the day they told us. He was also supposed to be our MC. :-(

So 17 days to go and we're back to having no MC and it's looking like 2 wasted meals. (We've looked at evening guests and there's no-one we can really bump up. They're either in groups of 3 or 4 or we don't really want them for the day.)

Maybe they'll give us a doggy bag? Lol.

Are the caterers providing drinks as well? Maybe they'll transfer the money over to extra drinks for you?

No. We're providing drinks. No corkage charge and buying everything over the Christmas period meant that providing our own was a hell of a lot cheaper than having theirs!

Even so, if they could have provided drinks originally, maybe they can still swap the 2 meals for some bottles? Always worth asking!

Unfortunately the venue would have provided the drinks not the caterers. :-( Still have a couple of weeks to find something/someone!

What about someone who is part of your day (e.g. Photographers?) i know youre already paying them to do their part but at least it would save the meals going to waste? Hope you manage to get things sorted ? xx

It is worth still bringing it up to the Caterers as they will perhaps give you a goodwill discount at this stage or some alternative foods, such as bread with the meal.

Also the photographers is a good idea, especially if they are staying to take photographs of the speeches or evening party. Though my photographers did wish to have their meal separately as they did not feel comfortable eating in the main room with the other guests but appreciated having a proper meal and again, that always helps when you go to select your photographs afterwards as I did get a bit of discount.
