Games during courses?

MrsB2be_xo, 10 September, 2013 at 13:44 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to think of something we can do between courses to prevent our guests getting bored.

We are doing speeches before hand so that the people doing them can relax & enjoy their meal.

However I wondered if anyone can recommend any games they are having/have played during the sit down meal to break the ice between guests!

The only one I can think of is Mr & Mrs but I'm not sure how I can include everybody in this? ?

Thanks in advance ❤️

That's a good idea but could it be a chore trying to get everyone involved when some people might just want to chat? And I suppose you'd have to designate someone to organise it.

What about games of some sort on each table that they can do amongst themselves (if they want?) I don't know what exactly, but some sort of mini question round games?

Sorry, probably not much help but great idea!

In my experience adults are very capable of chatting/drinking etc. between courses of a meal, and don't need 'entertaining'. If you want some sort of icebreaker there are many ideas online. You could use general trivia, or a fact about each guest on their placename for example. I think that would work better than an actual game, then guests can choose to read them etc. or just chat amongst themselves!

Absolutely. Indeed, I found that there was not ENOUGH time to chat between courses at my wedding.

A lot of your guests probably haven't seen each other for a while, or have never met - I think games would just get in the way of the socialising.

I for one would rather just be able to sit and chat than feel obliged to get involved in games, Just my opinion though. You could do some trivia of the bride and groom or the table has to guess the weight of the cake/dress/bouquets whatever and that table wins a bottle of champagne (Just though of this and warming to it lol, dont know if its original or not lol). Thats a nice short fun way to get people talking

Guess how many sweeties, Bride and Groom word search, or Bride and Groom crossword both based on titbits and trivia of the couple, and peolpe dont have to if they dont want, some of the crossword questions could only be found out by asking someone on another table

One of the best things we've come across is play doh!

Every table had a packet of modelling clay and had to make something related to the wedding. At the end of the speeches they announced the winning table, who I think won a round of drinks. It was great fun and got everyone interacting. The prize added a competition element too.

I couldn't have play doh - I dread to think of what shapes would be made!

Can't people just sit and talk to each other? I'd hate to be presented with games and activities, especially if I were sitting with people I hadn't seen in a long time and wnated a catch up with. I think you're over thinking this a bit, tbh.

I would actually agree with the not having anything, I had some trivial cards on the tables and they weren't even opened or used on any tables. Guests just loved the socialising and chatting, catching up with people they haven't seen in ages or have just met.

Thought this was an extra expense that wasn't needed Smiley smile

Another vote for no games. Everyone will be chatting far too much for games ?

Same! And more so if I told them to relate what they make to something about us or our wedding haha!
