Germinis - boring or simple chiq??????

sazelbean, 16 April, 2009 at 21:53 Posted on Planning 0 14

After meeting with my florest today i have decided to have germinis (deep red) and not much else. My bouquet will be about 20 of these, with long, long tails (3-4ft) intervoven with crystals and some bear grass (i think its called.. long and thin)

My BM will have same but smaller and no 'tails' , flower girls will have steel handbag baskets filled with rose petals (same colour) and small spray of grminis (figured they would fiiget with anything else) and all button holes and corsages will be single germinis

What do you think... am getting married valentines weekend but just becauese of convenience of the date.. want to stay as far away from roses as possible. And i liked them as i don't think its what people expect and they are real simple for someone who likes no fuss (like me!)

I don't even know if i got the name right. Apparently they are gerberas just smaller (and easier to work with as corsages etc)

Can't find any pics of the steel baskets or what i mean by long tails.. will keep looking....

any thoughts much appreciated

Gerbera's are lovely and wll defianitely make a statement. They look lovely with beargrass.

Are these similar to the handbags your bridesmaids are having

I love the bright colours that gerberas/germinis come in but for something a wee bit different my florist suggested using the "frilly" versions of gerberas... now I had never seen them before but imagine them being gerbera head size but each petal being split into about 3 so they have thinner, frillier petals... we gonna have some of these on the centre pieces... something a little bit different to have!

Why are they called Germini? Because they're small Gerbera?!

I love them! What a beautiful colour! And nice not to have the predictable red roses on Valentine's Day. Those baskets are very cool - I might have to steal that idea!

Simple but effective by the sounds of it.
