Getting a bit stressed..

bride26, 2 July, 2012 at 18:32 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi girls, well the big day is creeping up (Fri 13th July) and im getting anxious and stressed. DF STILL hasnt chosen a first dance song i have asked and asked and asked him for months then weeks then days. We have 11 days to go and still nothing Smiley sad getting annoyed by his not giving a s**t.

The weather.. well nothing i can do about that is there but i hadnt even thought about the rain till its been lashing it down for the past few weeks, now its dawning on me that im more than likley gonna get soaked. It should'nt affect my wedding much but we are hoping to kill time by having photos in a nice park near the registry office.. if its hammering it down thats not going to be an option. Im debating getting a big white golfing umbrella for DF and I, as i detest getting wet at the best of times and i can see me being a very grumpy bride if my hair gets wet. I hate to sound like a bridezilla but i wish it would just brighten up for us on that day Smiley sad

Im losing my appetite, and having bad dreams im sure its all normal but i dont like it!

booo hooo! lol

Didnt like to read and run!

Without talking from experience yet, I think everything is going to be ok! First you're the bride, no one in their right mind is going to let your hair get wet...I understand your concern with this because I too have massive hair/rain issues on an everyday basis, but trust me, if there is one day where people will ensure you do not get a single drop on your head then it's your wedding day! Not sure what to say about the photos in the park aspect but if there is an alternative location for photos, i.e. inside the venue afterwards then it will still be beautiful and will be an accurate account of your day, which will be the best day of your life despite the weather.

I also like to think that a bit of rain on your wedding day will bring out the good old British spirit, everyone will pull together and make sure your day is not spoiled in anyway.

Losing your appetite - totally normal and on the plus side be thankful you havent gone the opposite way and have to worry about whether you'll be able to do your dress up.

And the first dance song - maybe pick a selection of 5 tonight, songs that you know your OH loves and will be appropriate and ask him to chose one now...if he hasnt come up with one yet then there obviously isnt one that jumps out at him so giving him a shortlist should be acceptable!

    Good luck! xx

Definitely all normal but that doesn't make it any easier! I was much the same before my wedding a few weeks ago. All you can do is control the things you can, and that should take a little of the pressure off.

First, buy the umbrella. There's always a chance you won't need it (I didn't after days of heavy rain which stopped about an hour before the ceremony) but if you buy it you know your hair won't get soaked. Definitely worth a few pounds for a little peace of mind.

Losing your appetite is normal yes, but you do need to try and take care of yourself as best you can. If you aren't eating much it's worth taking a multivitamin perhaps if you don't already. I had Berocca every day a couple of weeks before and I felt like it perked me up and my skin seemed a little better than usual.

I second Tallulaha's suggestion on the first dance song- if you could perhaps narrow it down and then ask him to choose one that could work. It's frustrating when it feels like your future husband has no sense of urgency (at least mine didn't!), and if it's really causing you a lot of stress there's no harm in you giving him a nudge, especially as he'll still get to make the final decision.

I hope you are able to enjoy the run up to your wedding without much more stress. You will have a wonderful day whatever happens in the next couple of weeks though

Right, first of all, the weather is something you just can't control. So prepare for rain and if it doesn't, you've hit the British Summertime jackpot. Get yourself a nice bridal brolly and some wellies. Your photographer will be able to make the best of the weather, look at some of these from a recent Hitched thread...

As for the first dance song, choose a list of three or so songs that you like (and you think he might like), and tell him to choose one. If he doesn't, you choose it. Although that is one thing that can be left to the last minute.

I know it is easier said than done, but at the end of the day, you're marrying the man you want to spend the rest of your life with, so keep focused on that, and get some fish and chips in your belly ?

    Deep Breathes!

I would definitely buy an umberella just incase, it should hopefully put your mind at ease that if it does rain a bit then you are prepared for it. You never know though it might be sunny by then, this weather is so random at the moment, I'd be surprised if it rains all day- it's just little showers on and off.

As for the first dance, personally I would choose it. Tell him what you've chosen and if he doesn't like it, tell him that unless he chooses something different then the one you have chosen is happening whether he likes it or not. Harsh but fair I think.

Try to relax, it's supposed to be exciting and I'm sure it will all be perfect on the day!
