Getting a cast iron bath re-enamelled (sp)

chids, 9 March, 2009 at 14:14 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

Just a quick question. Has anyone ever had a cast iron bath re-enammelled (sp)? We've been looking at a new house over the weekend and the bathroom is fine apart from the bath has got a few marks and chips in it. It's a cast iron bath and so would be really heavy to replace and i'm reluctant to do that anyway. However my dad has mentioned that it would be re-enammelled.

Not sure though how much this would cost, and also what i would look for in the yellow pages to find a number to get prices on how much it would cost.

TIA

My parents had theirs re-enamelled once, I think it cost about £160, but that was several years ago. It worked really well.

My parents also had their bath re-enamelled, and tbh it didn't work that well. It was fine for a few months, but chipped really easily and after a couple of years they ended up replacing the bath.
